Chloeta is recruiting to fill five (5) GS-3 and GS-4 equivalent wildland firefighter positions as part of a 10-person module based out of Libby, MT on the Kootenai National Forest. 

Duty Station: Libby, MT; Kootenai National Forest
Desired Attributes
  • Recruits must be able to successfully serve as crewmember on a wildland fire crew
  • Able to pass DOT medical physical
  • Clean driving record for the past three (3) years
  • US Citizen
  • Recruits should be willing and expect to travel extensively and be assigned to incidents for up to fourteen (14) to twenty-one (21) days at a time
  • Rookie personnel will be provided with the necessary training (Basic Wildland Firefighter; S-130, S-190, ICS-100, IS-800, L-180) prior to beginning work
  • Rookie personnel will be provided with a Work Capacity Test prior to beginning work
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical screening, including lung sphygmometer test
  • Ability to pass a respirator fit test
  • Asbestos awareness training (will be provided)

  • Represent Chloeta professionally at times
  • Operate effectively in team settings in high stress environments
  • Maintain a high level of physical fitness
  • Maintain a constant of readiness for response statewide

Physical Demands
  • Will occasionally work up to sixteen (16) hours per day
  • Will typically work up to seven (7) days per week, for fourteen (14) to twenty-21 (21) days straight
  • Arduous Duty Work Capacity Test (walk 3 miles with a 45 lb pack on in 45 minutes)

Compensation and Work Schedule
  • Recruits should expect to be available for extensive travel nationwide during fire season
  • Housing while working at the home duty station is NOT provided
  • All travel expenses, including meals and lodging, are provided by the company while the employee is in official travel status

Compensation and Work Schedule
  • Compensation is commensurate with experience, education and capability
  • GS-3 and GS-4 equivalent positions 
  • Work Schedule will be 40 hrs/wk when not assigned to fires, and up to sixteen (16) hours/day for fourteen (14) or more days when assigned to an incident
  • Tentative crew start date is 18 JUN 2018 and approximate furlough date is 22 SEP 2018

Security Clearance
  • Public Trust, a background investigation is required

Travel Required
  • 25% or Greater
  • Travel is required to wildland fires.
