This Chicago-based role, which is central to our established business model (30+ year track record in venture capital, equity research, and investment banking), combines 1) public equity research with 2) direct responsibility for sourcing, executing, and managing venture capital investments.
The analyst will work closely with a senior analyst in growing a robust investment research franchise in a specific emerging-growth technology sector. The analyst will co-cover a set of relevant publicly traded companies with the senior analyst and provide lead coverage of an adjacent set of companies in the same franchise. The analyst will also support and partner with the senior analyst in sourcing, executing, and managing venture capital investments. Our model places a heavy emphasis on establishing thought leadership by publishing in-depth white papers and related research reports and extensive networking among each sectors’ executives, investors, and other key players. As such, key attributes of a successful analyst are excellent writing skills, strong interpersonal relationship skills, outstanding analytical skills, sound business judgment, and a high degree of creativity, internal motivation, and intellectual curiosity. (Financial modeling and securities analysis skills are fundamental.) The strongest candidates will likely have at least one year of public equity research experience, ideally on the sell side.
