Engineering Coordinator

Carbon Lighthouse is looking for motivated, resourceful, and well organized Engineering Coordinators to join our Engineering Team, the Team responsible for developing and delivering our clean energy service in buildings.

The Engineering Team has expanded rapidly in geography, headcount, and technical complexity, leading to an increasingly diverse and specific set of needs. This role is designed to focus attention on these needs, which include field deployments, equipment/sensor inventory management, data management, contractor and vendor interactions, project-based accounting, utility interactions, and internal information systems. This position will provide technical and logistical support that enables the entire Engineering Team to be more effective in pursuing our ambitious goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage, maintain, coordinate, and troubleshoot an inventory of data loggers and sensor equipment
  • Organize and stock gear bags and other field equipment
  • Participate in on-site field work, including deploying/retrieving sensors
  • Download and run processing scripts for a variety of utility, Building Management System, weather, and other metered data
  • Set up automated alerts within a variety of HVAC and Solar PV software systems
  • Obtain OEM equipment information, building drawings, and other relevant information sources
  • Perform basic energy modeling work and/or information intake for modeling
  • Identify, prepare, and submit utility incentive documents, and gather/verify applicable utility rate schedules
  • Process, track, and communicate invoices, purchase orders, and other service related payments
  • Identify, onboard, vet, and maintain contractors and their required information
  • Schedule client and contractor bid walks, site visits, and other inspections
  • Process, receive, and compile RFPs and RFIs from bidding events
  • Update applicable Engineering and Sales information systems, and communicate required inputs to Team
  • Find and implement solutions to automate many of these responsibilities 

Required Qualifications:
  • Dedication to Carbon Lighthouse’s environmental mission
  • BS/BA in Engineering (any field)
  • Ability to remain flexible, embrace change, and manage uncertainty
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and timely follow-through
  • Technical aptitude, and ability to rapidly learn and master new concepts
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent question-asker, with ability to initiate, research, and execute a variety of challenging tasks
  • Desire to continuously improve our processes and find creative solutions to our operational challenges
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds, and carry 20 pounds up a ladder
  • Ability to travel to local and national sites (<8 days/month)
  • Ability to work in industrial and mechanical spaces, with exposure to heat, noise, heights, and confined spaces
  • No work experience necessary
  • Must be able to work in the US, this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Bonus Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with accounting concepts and practices
  • Experience with inventory management
  • Lab, field, or other experience involving instrumentation & sensor equipment
  • Experience downloading, uploading, and otherwise managing large datasets
  • Project management/coordination work experience.
