Position: Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist

Supervised by: Chief Medical Officer

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform and document the preanesthesia assessment and evaluation of patient
  • Obtain informed consent for anesthesia and related services
  • Select and obtain necessary anesthesia meds for procedure
  • Select and obtain and help manage necessary anesthesia equipment. Alerts supervisor when there is an issue with equipment, supplies, or meds.
  • Participates in safety checks of equipment as needed
  • Select and obtain and administer anesthesia meds, analgesic meds, fluids, blood, or other accessory meds as needed based on patient’s clinical situation and procedure
  • Perform all aspects of airway management as needed
  • Facilitate recovery from anesthesia, initiating and administering post-anesthesia meds or fluids as needed; evaluate patient for other respiratory support or CV support as needed
  • Evaluate patient during procedure to anesthesia and the procedure and take appropriate corrective actions as needed
  • Provide f/u care as needed
  • Assist in managing emergency situations with physicians including airway management and with BLS / ACLS protocols
  • Place and manage regional or general anesthesia including epidurals and spinals
  • Place PICC lines as needed by the medical team
  • Assists in GI clinic providing conscious sedation as directed by the physician. Assists in prepping and recovering the patient from GI procedures.
  • Is within 5 min of BMC when on-call for the facility in case of an emergency
  • Assists with peripheral or central line placement as requested or needed by the medical team


Qualifications
  • Maintains valid CRNA license
  • Maintains the requirements to keep a valid state license
  • Submits to the necessary components to maintain privileging within the clinic including background checks, random drug screens, peer reviews by CMO, certification of fitness to perform duties, and willingness to comply with the various quality improvement programs including PQRS, MU, METRIC, etc
