Product Manager

About the company:

The company is a venture-backed technology company operating in East Africa and India. They build and deploy cloud-connected points inside local retail outlets, which serve as consumer access points for goods and services delivered in partnership with major suppliers.

The role:

The Product Manager supports the Product Team in delivering the vision and roadmap, normally in the form of defining a product vision, owning the scoping of features, identifying user flows and dependencies within the business, which allows the development team to build functionality that fulfils the vision. The Product Manager is also required to undertake systems and business analysis, reviewing new systems, integrations, business areas and processes that could support new functionality for the product.

What You Will Do

  • Create and communicate clear product visions for new customer and agent related products and features as well as detailed scope for enhancements to existing systems
  • Work closely with development teams to ensure that they have everything that the need to build new product functionality – from vision, wireframes and user flows, through to stories & documentation on products, systems and business processes
  • Carry out research with target users, gathering input from stakeholders across the business
  • Perform analysis and research on other systems that could support new or expanded product features
  • Mapping out existing business processes, documenting changes that need to be made to business operations to support the new product
  • Gather and review as much data and insight as possible on the product, so that it can feed into improvement processes to create new features and improvements
  • Maintain a large number of relationships across all of the business areas and technologies that the product touches to ensure messages are effectively communicated
  • Plan and lead business change activity required to release and launch a product e.g. training, documentation, marketing
  • Provide input to business funding models & business cases as needed
  • Work closely with the Product Team to understand the wider company product roadmap in detail, and be able to describe and illustrate the product vision as needed. 
  • Drive all of the key Agile behaviors and ways of working

Key Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree or BCS/IIBA BA qualification
  • 1-2 years experience in Product Owner and Analyst roles and techniques
  • Experience in customer facing software including mobile apps through to call centre software
  • Experience with roadmapping, ticketing and wireframing tools 
  • Seeks and incorporates feedback from seniors regularly
  • Builds and maintains understanding of KOKO customers & users
  • Uses creativity & lateral thinking to overcome obstacles
  • Balances business priorities and product realities to get results
  • Thorough awareness of agile & iterative software development – preferably Scrum experience
  • Uses initiative to analyse and investigate potential software issues
  • Communicates clearly and concisely, with written output having good structure & minimal errors
  • Good at providing feedback in a way that is both positive and meaningful
  • Strong team working and collaboration skills; shows respect for others viewpoints and seeks to build consensus
