As an essential member of the Brandless People + Places team, the People Operations Manager is responsible for building and supporting the excellent HR and employee engagement programs, systems, policies and infrastructure that will support our culture and team. In addition to leading functional areas, this role is a strategic partner to the Head of People + Places and will help define and build all aspects of the people and culture strategy, focusing specifically on benefits and total rewards.
The People Operations Manager must research, benchmark, recommend, build, and maintain the systems and processes that not only ensure Brandless’ compliance with all federal and state regulations, but also create an amazing employee experience and support our talent goals.
Operating with the highest integrity and confidentiality, and modeling collaboration, discretion, strategic and thoughtful leadership, this individual must be a resource for all employees and a confident subject-matter leader in HR operations and total rewards. As a leader on the People Team, this person will also contribute significantly to strategy and programs in other areas such as onboarding, performance management, employee engagement, recruiting, and culture.
What you’ll do:
Benefits
- Design, own and continually evolve our benefits offerings to support an excellent employee experience
- Partner with our external benefits broker to provide employee health and wellness benefits
- Lead open enrollment, ensuring competitive benefits packages are maintained and improved, providing thoughtful data and analytics to the Head of People + Places and the CEO to inform decision-making
- Partner with our benefits broker, ensure that employee benefits questions and issues are appropriately addressed
- Participate in benefits benchmarking surveys on behalf of Brandless, learn from industry peers, and survey employees internally, in order to make informed recommendations about Brandless’ benefits programs
- Ensure Brandless’ compliance with all laws and regulations, and ensure that all regulatory filings are completed satisfactorily and on time
- Manage Brandless’ 401(k) plan, including annual 5500 filings and audits
- Coordinate all leaves of absence and workers compensation claims
Compensation
- Participate in salary benchmarking surveys and provide insight on a competitive compensation strategy that guides pay decisions and ensures internal equity, and that can be articulated thoughtfully to our employees
- Participate in employee salary reviews and help employees understand the context of their total compensation
HR Systems
- Serve as the primary administrator for our HRIS, Namely
- Manage ongoing transactions such as promotions, transfers, and new hires within the system
- Ensure that Namely is the system of record, paying utmost attention to data integrity and accuracy
Immigration
- Partner with outside counsel to determine appropriate non-immigrant visa types for all foreign nationals
- Manage pre-offer immigration assessments and case initiations and ongoing visa renewals
- Work with employees to resolve immigration issues including extensions, green cards, etc.
- Maintain regulatory compliance with all immigration government agencies, including managing the I-9 verification process
- Keep abreast of regulatory changes that may impact the program and/or employees
What you’ll need:
- Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to present complex information effectively and in a way that “puts people first”
- An organized and meticulous manner, with a passion for crafting systems and processes that scale
- Energetic “scrapy-ness,” meaning a true hands-on doer who remains flexible, inventive, and collaborative as well as the ability to successfully assess the “pulse” of the employees to ensure a high level of employee engagement
- Great computer and systems literacy, and the ability to build spreadsheets and manipulate and analyze data
- A minimum of 5+ years’ experience in HR with concentration in HR operations, benefits and total rewards
- Must be able to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all time
