This is an opportunity to provide Applied Behavior Analysis therapy to children, teens, and young adults with autism and other developmental disorders in their homes and community.
Applied Behavior Analysis therapy (ABA) is an evidence based therapy that seeks to increase positive behaviors while decreasing challenging behaviors to improve to improve functional and independent living skills. Behavior Technicians receive paid training in ABA theory and practice before starting with clients. Technicians will also receive mileage reimbursement for travel to the client’s home!
This position provides an excellent entry to the field for people who are interested in psychology, behavior analysis, special education, occupational therapy, speech pathology, social work, counseling, or other careers in healthcare.
Behavior Technician Responsibilities:
*Provide one on one instruction to enable the child to acquire and maintain skills that will allow him/her to have greater independence in their home and community.
*Follow ABA practices as directed by the supervising Behavior Analyst.
*Implement teaching procedures, discrete trial training, natural environment training, and the verbal behavior approach
*Implement skill acquisition programs and individualized behavior protocols under the direction of the supervising Behavior Analyst
*Serve as a role model for clients and other employees
*Collect data on behaviors and skill acquisition goals
*Complete required paperwork
*Attend and participate in staff meetings
*Complete necessary online training's within first 30 days of employment and in person training's within 60 days (paid)
*Respect client and family confidentiality at all times
Energetic professional who is a team player
Must have reliable transportation and valid car insurance
Must be willing to travel 30 minutes to client's home (mileage is compensated at a standard mileage rate.)
Experience working with children is required
Experience with individuals with special needs is a plus
Be at least 18 years of age and able to pass criminal background check
High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred
Must be able to interact professionally in both oral and written communication
Must be able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills
Employee must show discretion in matters that need to remain private
Creativity is a plus
Work availability in the afternoon and evenings, Monday - Friday
