The Role:
Bowery Farming is seeking a Controls Engineer to join our Robotics and Automation Engineering team out of our Baltimore, MD facility. This role will report into the Head of Robotics and Automation, and will spend his/her time supporting the commissioning, operations, and growth of our indoor farming network. The Senior Controls Engineer will own the operational reliability of our equipment with support from our maintenance staff, including the PLC code, mechatronic components, and device-level operability.
What You'll Do at Bowery…
- Spend time between our farms based on needs and planned projects, while having a home base in Baltimore, MD.
- Focus on the development of standards, operating procedures (SOPs), preventative maintenance descriptions (PMs), and the execution of research and development (R&D) projects.
- You will collaborate with Bowery’s IT and software (OS) teams while auditing the network infrastructure.
- Be the main point of contact for our Operations team.
- Participate in both the maintenance activities and research/development for Bowery’s equipment.
What You Have...
- Minimum of 6 years experience in Engineering (Controls, Automation, Electrical, or Maintenance)
- Bachelors Degree (Masters Degree is a plus).
- You are self motivated, enjoy autonomy, but have a proven record of working well with others.
- You have a love to deep dive into problems to find the root cause of failure, and have demonstrated experience using FMEA methods.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize diverse tasks, to hit hard deadlines, and to know when to escalate issues that arise.
- You thrive in ambiguity and play nice in the sandbox.
- Prior experience in an early stage start-up is a plus.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 30%.
