JOB TITLE: Accounting Specialist
REPORTS TO: VP of Finance
LOCATION: San Diego Brewery - Chula Vista, CA 91911
POSITION TYPE: This is a full-time, non-exempt position
TRAVEL: Travel is not expected in this position
SUPERVISES: Not Applicable
KEY COLLABORATORS: The Accounting Specialist will report to the VP of Finance and will regularly interact with Boochcraft employees as well as outside vendors.
JOB SUMMARY: The Accounting Specialist reports directly to the VP of Finance and is responsible for day to day accounting activities including: processing invoices, recording expenses, assisting with the monthly financial statement close process, and the preparation of monthly financial analysis reports.
To be successful, the person filling this role will be an excellent cross-functional collaborator with attention to detail and deadlines and possess excellent time management skills. This position requires someone who is analytical, organized, and knowledgeable in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company policies. Maintain a professional work environment that fosters a collaborative team spirit with respect for other team members.
All overtime must be authorized in writing on a case-by-case basis in advance of actual work performed.
●Education: Formal education to include a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or a relative discipline desired or a minimum of 5+ years of relevant field experience in an accounting and/or bookkeeping role.
●Experience: The ideal candidate will have accounting and office experience in a growth-oriented Consumer Product Goods or retail company. Payroll experience also required.
●Communication: Strong written, communication, and execution skills are required.
●Specialized Skills: Proficient with Quickbooks Online highly desired. Other skills to include recording and management of Point of Sale software (Square and/or Arryved), Microsoft Office, and Google suites, mobile apps and possess the ability and desire to learn other software as needed.
●Physical Requirements: Demonstrate the ability to safely lift moderately heavy (35 lbs) equipment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

●Record expenses to correct GL accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports
●Review invoices and requisitions and route to appropriate POCs for approval
●Prepares federal and state compliance filings including excise taxes and brewer's report of operations
●Maintain master data listings including customers/vendors and related compliance filings
●Maintain fixed asset ledger
●Record and reconcile Point of Sale transactions
●Prepare month-end accruals and balance sheet reconciliations
●Process Payroll, Time Keeping, and resolve issues or discrepancies.
● Demonstrate strong working knowledge of Quickbooks including, but not limited to, the ability to generate, read and understand a Profit & Loss Statement, Balance Sheet, as well as other financial reports and data entry.
●Maintain all financial and administrative duties in a timely manner. This includes, but is not limited to, Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), categorizing, inputting and paying invoices, depositing all incoming revenue, reconciling multiple bank accounts and credit card accounts monthly, tracking all loan payments and process employee reimbursements.
● Generate and send weekly and monthly financial reports.
● Maintain periodic (monthly and yearly) reporting and updated licensing and permitting for a variety of state and federal government agencies including, but limited to, The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), as well as all other licenses that include certifications from Quality Assurance International (QAI) and 1% For the Planet.
●Assist in preparation for any regulatory audits as needed.
●Ensure team’s timely submission of expenses through the Company’s expense tracking software. Review coding and process entries.
●Review and process employee reimbursements within 10 days of receipt
●Work with the sales team as needed to input and track retail sales from brewery and farmer’s markets using the Square application.
●Responsible for understanding all software/technology systems and learning new ones as applicable. Always on the lookout for areas for improvement and efficiency.
●Continue his/her education as needed to fill gaps in technical and managerial knowledge.
●Other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
