Staff Accountant

Black Ink is a Business Operations services and consulting company located in Dumbo, Brooklyn. We have a long and diverse client list, with leaders in many industries including technology, design, manufacturing, e-commerce, music and others. We help our clients with key operational business functions from bookkeeping, payroll, internal audits and controls, tax management, financial modeling and forecasting, light HR, and other various business initiatives.

We are currently looking for a Staff Accountant who has a passion for business operations, and a strong desire to jump in and grow their finance background. This person is analytical, a natural problem solver, and works well under pressure, all while contributing to a team environment and doing their best work. Every position on the team counts, and we take our work seriously and hold each other accountable. 

This role will report to Senior Accounting & Finance Managers and Directors.

Responsibilities

  • This role will maintain general bookkeeping, A/P, A/R, Payroll, and overall general ledger maintenance
  • Prepare, Post, Enter journal entries
  • Responsible for regular record maintenance & filling
  • Work with senior leadership and account managers with special project support -- includes, but not limited to research, status reports, etc.
  • Assist with and provide client & relationship support when needed
  • Maintain Client Financial Reports and Client Dashboards
  • Work on developing & maintaining business processes

Experience requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred
  • 1 - 3 years of relevant accounting experience 
  • Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks - minimum 1 years of experience
  • Experience with various system applications - includes but not limited to - Microsoft Office Suite and Google Sheets
  • Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines
  • Research & Project management experience a plus
  • Experience serving in a client facing role a plus
