Job Summary

The Financial Analyst/Accountant position plays a vital role by forecasting budgets and cash flows while also managing the day-to-day accounting practices of the company. As a young startup, Big Squid is focused on rapid growth and we need someone who has energy and drive to wear multiple hats in the Operations org. You’ll also have the opportunity to work with all the major departments, help establish budgets and review performance, as well as advise the VP of Operation and CEO on deviations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage financial models, including departments budget and cash flow models, based on various business variables, to predict future performance
  • Meet with department leaders to discuss budget to plan and deviations
  • Produce financial reports and artifacts for leadership and the Board of Directors
  • Manage monthly accounting practices alongside Big Squid’s 3rd-party accounting firm
  • Manage and oversee accounting transactions including journal entries, expenses, and revenue recognition
  • Manage AR (Accounts Receivable) and AP (Accounts Payable), and create and send invoices
  • Manage collection of invoices
  • Provide information and work alongside Big Squid’s auditor during the yearly audit

Qualifications

Required:
  • Degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent area
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience
  • Familiar with GAAP and financial forecasting
  • Ability to communicate well to peers and leadership
  • Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills, business intelligence tools
  • Experience or familiarity with Quickbooks or equivalent accounting system

Preferred:
  • MBA degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience in the cloud software industry
