Senior Strategic Planner

The Senior Strategic Planner will provide strategic leadership to assigned accounts, selling through strategic directions and programs to clients and new business opportunities. As the owner of consumer understanding, the planner will identify consumer insights and opportunities and translate them into actionable ideas and programs. The ideal background for this position is one in which the person has acquired a solid track record of innovative strategic thinking that has driven positive business results for both consumer and B2B.

 
What you'll do:
·       Be the primary, day-to-day contact for all facets of strategy and planning, including marketing, communications strategy and engagement planning for assigned clients
·       Take the leadership role in discovering and articulating differentiating consumer and customer insights and translating them into strategic and creative platforms
·       Partner with Account Services to gain client approval to recommended strategic direction
·       Work cross-functionally within the agency to ensure the successful and innovative execution of approved strategies
·       Partner with Account and Creative teams to sell recommended work to the clients and prospects
·       Develop, direct and evaluate quantitative and qualitative research that answers key questions and provides fodder for insight identification
·       Support the identification and generation of new business and revenue opportunities by working with CMO, Account Services and Creative on strategic development
·       Participate in and drive strategic approach for new business pitches
·       Envision and create client and new business presentations/documents
·       Serve as a thought leader and subject matter expert within the agency, with clients, and within the industry at large
·       Mentor junior strategists
 

Who you are:
Skill Set/Knowledge:
·       Deep understanding of and experience with brand strategy and marketing strategy
·       Advanced understanding of integrated marketing principles including digital and direct; content strategy is a plus
·       Ability to synthesize information from various sources to create an actionable point of view and direction for a project
·       Ability to convert strategic plans into actionable ones
·       Highly resourceful, with strong research skills and a working knowledge of marketing analytics
·       Ability to create effective & persuasive client presentations in PowerPoint & Keynote
·       Exceptional visual, oral and written communications skills; a captivating presenter
·       Proactive and able to work independently
·       Highly creative thinker, with first-rate conceptual skills
·       Exceptional listening skills
·       Resourcefulness/relentlessness
·       Ability to influence and be persuasive
·       Strong deadline orientation and ability to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines

Education/Experience Required:
·       BA/BS Marketing or Communications degree, or equivalent work experience
·       5to 7 years of experience as a Strategist or Planner in the marketing, advertising and/or branding fields, creating, leading, and selling through digital, direct and/or integrated marketing strategies and solutions
Agency experience is highly preferred
