Backstage, the world’s most trusted casting resource, is hiring for a Casting and Entertainment-Industry Outreach Specialist in Brooklyn, NY.
Backstage connects content-creators with the talent needed to take their projects to the next level. Founded in 1960, Backstage is a popular performing-arts resource with an advanced suite of online casting tools that have helped thousands of filmmakers, theater-makers, and businesses find actors, dancers, singers, models, comedians & crew.
The Business Development Specialist- Casting Partnerships is responsible for introducing Backstage’s online casting tools to content creators, brands, casting directors, agents, filmmakers, theater creators, film schools, production companies, and the overall performing arts community -- through a combination of direct outreach, business development, guerrilla marketing, and partnership building.
Additionally, this position will be responsible for researching and gathering leads and insights; visiting local universities and prospective clients' offices to demo Backstage's services; and working with Backstage's account managers to ensure that new and prospective users understand how to utilize Backstage.com effectively; as well as ensuring that their casting calls and job listings receive a strong response from quality applicants.
The ideal candidate will have exceptionally strong organizational, research, and outreach skills. Also helpful are existing connections in the entertainment industry, as well as knowledge about the casting needs and processes of film students, brands, and industry professionals.
- Identify and reach out to content creators, casting directors, organizations, and companies that may be in need of casting services.
- Help on-board clients onto the platform and follow up for feedback and assistance.
- Forge partnerships that will help to grow awareness of Backstage's casting platform and attract more content creators.
- Teach content creators how to use Backstage’s online casting tools effectively.
- Demo Backstage’s online tools on-site and via webinars to prospective clients and partners; help create marketing collateral; conduct presentations at film schools and events.
- Increase the overall number of projects (including indie films, web-series, brand-spots, and commercials) casting with Backstage.
- Carefully track and evaluate the scope and success of these efforts, and iterate upon your methods to achieve improvements.
Skills:
- Must be an effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills and great follow-up skills.
- Must be a self-starter with good time-management and research skills
- Must have strong outreach and promotional skills and be adept at building new client and organizational relationships.
- Should have an understanding of the needs of content creators.
- Existing relationships within the film and content-creator communities preferred, and previous casting experience a plus.
