Full-Stack Developer

 Avalanche Studios is the original creator of the award-winning Just Cause franchise (published by Square Enix), the developer of Mad Max (published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment) and is currently working on Rage 2 (published by Bethesda Softworks), scheduled for release in 2019. As a publisher, Avalanche Studios has brought free-to-play service theHunter Classic to market and reached more than 7 million registered players across 190 countries. The theHunter franchise was expanded in 2017 to also include premium title theHunter: Call of the Wild, which was released for PC and subsequently console platforms. Avalanche Studios, which is based in Stockholm, New York City and Malmö, was founded in 2003 by Christofer Sundberg and Linus Blomberg. The studio develops games using its proprietary Apex technology, enabling huge open worlds filled with emergent gameplay. 

The Position
We are looking for a skilled and passionate Full-Stack Developer to work on the technology driving and supporting our self-published title, theHunter Classic, as well as future titles. This is a great opportunity to join a passionate and dynamic development team where you will be a crucial member of Live operations within our self-publishing organisation.

In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our game servers and website, writing new features relying on the front-end/back-end, and gathering metrics and data about the game. An important part of this role is creating and managing Business Intelligence and analytics solutions, and crafting and executing queries upon request for data. As our backend stack consist of a variety of services implemented in Go, Python and some legacy PHP, we’re looking for someone who has solid experience managing large code bases shared between multiple products.

Preference will be given to candidates who have developed and maintained large commercial applications. Having worked on live products with frequent deployment is also considered a big plus.

Required Qualifications
  • Past experience with both front-end and back-end development
  • Strong knowledge of Python or Go
  • Strong understanding of JavaScript and ReactJS
  • Extensive experience from storage technologies such as MySQL, NoSQL, Memcache
  • Good knowledge running CRUD queries and moderately complex joins on SQL db’s
  • A great sense of technical excellence, functionality and problem-solving
  • Strong communication, organizational and time management skills
  • Collaborative, proactive and self-motivated
Desired qualifications
  • Knowledge of jQuery, C#, C++ or Google App Engine
  • Previous work with high availability solutions
  • Understanding of how to effectively build and architect solutions using the Google Cloud stack
  • Experience working with modern orchestration software such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience working in an international environment
  • Game lover
