We're a multi-award-winning drinks and technology group on a mission to disrupt the drinks industry in three different ways:
▪️ Master of Malt is a multi-award winning online drinks retailer, with a particular passion for whisky, gin, and other premium spirits. Where our passion lies, however, is in delivering extraordinary drinks experiences. This is less about flogging bottles and more about how we aid learning and discovery, in the most delightful way imaginable.
▪️ Atom Brands is creating a stable of internationally-acclaimed drinks brands unparalleled in their innovative-ness and utterly uncompromising in their approach to the quality of the liquid.
▪️ Maverick Drinks is assembling the most interesting portfolio of craft brands in the industry, and challenging the ‘pay-to-play’ status quo with their open, collaborative approach to doing business.
Brilliant technology is right at the heart of who we are - without the best technology we can’t do great work, and coupling that technology with incredibly passionate and talented people is how we win.
In everything we do, we are disruptive innovators; it is baked into our DNA to challenge orthodoxy and received wisdom wherever we find it. The work is challenging, interesting and important.
The role:
You’ll work with a focused and growing team of first-class engineers and leaders; some joined us straight from uni while others came with a wealth of professional experience from the likes of Netflix.
Right now, we have a hybrid stack, with a lot in a hosted environment, but we’re increasingly using cloud services (with a footprint in the three major clouds). What this means, is increased complexity to keep the data flowing between all of our environments, in a way that is secure and seamless. This is a job for someone who wants to learn new things, and rapidly introduce new technologies.
As well as supporting the systems infrastructure, you will also play a key role in keeping the corporate tools up and running; an outage of our Wi-Fi network is hugely detrimental to the smooth operation of the company, so needs to be avoided.
You'll be tasked with assessing our network tools and making recommendations on what we should introduce. This is a highly autonomous role; there will be no micromanaging here.
You love to learn but are smart enough to know that the latest “cool” technology might not be the right long-term choice.
You'll be excited about working to modernise a tech stack within an eCommerce system, with the flexibility to use the technologies that make you most productive.
You understand that if a system doesn’t work for the user when they need it, then it doesn’t work. Successful systems have monitoring, redundancy and come with proper training and guides. You never blame the user.
Who we’re looking for:
- An experienced network engineer, including routers, switches and firewalls from a range of vendors.
- Experience integrating into a cloud environment, setting up Virtual Private Clouds and VPNs for transferring data between the data center and the cloud seamlessly.
- Experience managing VOIP telephony and Unified communications systems.
- Experience managing and securing a corporate network.
- Ability to train users on security best practice.
- Someone who enjoys getting their hands dirty. While a major roll-out of a new office will involve managing external contractors to run networking equipment, you’ll be equally happy to do small scale extensions to the network yourself.
Nice to haves:
- Experience with Mikrotik or Ubviquiti equipment.
- Experience implementing a network for a hybrid DC/Cloud infrastructure.
- Knowledge of advanced security practices, using the network to catch problems before they infect the whole network.
Why work for us?
Other than the standard benefits you'd expect to see (think pension, cycle-2-work scheme, free eye care vouchers, childcare vouchers) we also offer…
- Flexible working - We’re focused on productivity, not the clock. We’ll work with you to make sure you’re happy with how and when you work
- Free food - A hungry worker is not a happy worker. We stock our kitchens with what you need to get you through the day
- Free fancy coffee - George Clooney endorsed, no less...
- A relaxed working environment - There are no suits and ties here (unless you insist).
- A challenge - The opportunity to make a difference to the future of the business. It is our people who put us in the 2017 Sunday Times Fast Track 100.
- Personal Days - 7 completely flexible personal days on top of your annual leave, because we all need a duvet day from time to time.
- A healthy staff discount - On our world-class range. Just in case that makes a difference.
(Un)healthy irreverence - National pizza/doughnut/pie/lemonade/etc day? We got it covered.
