multi-award-winning online drinks retailer, with a particular passion for whisky, gin, and other premium spirits.
Where our true passion lies, however, is in delivering extraordinary drinks experiences. Our Trade business has been running for as long as the retail business, though with little proactive focus to date. Despite this, our strength of range and our service proposition make it extremely popular with our customers, and we are confident that there is a significant business beneath the tip of this iceberg.
The Challenge
We have an amazing internal platform for business growth across our marketing, commercial, service, web development and operational teams. Your challenge is to direct those resources towards our Trade business.
Forget “low hanging fruit” - there is fruit all over the floor as well as right at the top of the tree. Over the medium term you will gobble up all of this fruit and turn our trade business from a sideline into a significant presence in the market.

- You’ve done exactly this job before; growing and running a successful spirits wholesaler or trade business.
- You have a degree or relevant higher education in business, so you understand the fundamentals across everything from marketing to operations.
- You are a very strong leader, with experience of building a team of experts on whom you can rely to deliver the goods.
- You are highly organised and you plan ahead.
- You are analytical, and have experience owning a P&L.
The Role
The Head of Trade Business reports directly into our MD. To begin with, you'll will draw resources from existing functions (marketing, service etc), but this will change significantly over time and as the business takes shape.
Specific responsibilities:
- Totally re-boot the business - defining growth strategy from the ground up.
- Re-build the platform and re-launch the brand.
- Run the business on an ongoing basis, accelerating growth significantly over the first few years and delivering ongoing value delivery and growth in the long term.
- Develop campaigns in concert with our suppliers in a way that delivers our brand and commercial goals, and delivers value to our customers.
- Contribute generally to Master of Malt and Atom Group as a member of our Leadership Team.
