Front End Developer (Associate to Mid-Level)

The Front End Developer is responsible for building web applications and microservices, consuming APIs, and maintaining existing JavaScript code.  This includes HTML/CSS and other front-end areas to support their builds. For this position, we are seeking applicants with strong JavaScript development skills who are eager to make immediate contributions to our projects, expand their skill set, and grow as a professional developer.

Role & Responsibilities:
  • Heavy lifting for day-to-day front-end coding of web applications.
  • Design, estimate, and implement small and medium features/enhancements.
  • Work with other developers and architects to design, estimate, and implement large features and entire applications.
  • Create supporting HTML and CSS using preprocessors and build tools.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks and bug fixes for applications.
  • Perform code reviews for other developers.
  • Write automated tests (unit, integration, visual regression, user acceptance) for our projects.
  • Attend team meetings.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members from all departments.
  • Learn new frameworks, technologies, etc. as needed.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Strong experience with modern JavaScript (i.e. ES6+), jQuery, JSON/XML, and bundlers (e.g. Webpack).
  • Strong experience in at least one JavaScript framework such as React, Angular, or Vue.
  • Experience writing HTML/CSS, DOM manipulation, and implementing these technologies on a web platform.
  • Experience with CSS preprocessors (e.g. Sass or Less, Sass preferred, styled-components a plus) and build tools (e.g. Gulp).
  • Basic understanding of PHP or .NET/C# programming.
  • Dependable and professional.
  • A self-motivated, quick learner.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to work independently, but also must work well with others.
  • Ability to prioritize, plan, and take ownership of their work.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment on a number of projects.

Experience in any of the following is a plus:
  • Familiarity with design applications such as Photoshop or Sketch.
  • Pattern libraries and style guides
  • PHP frameworks (WordPress, Magento, Drupal, Laravel)
  • .NET frameworks (ASP .NET MVC, .NET Core, Umbraco CMS)
  • Server-side JavaScript such as Express
  • Visual regression testing
  • Amazon Web Services

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This job requires routine desk and computer work.  No travel is required.
