Position: We are seeking a full-time Lab Operations Manager to oversee all aspects of day-to-day operations of our laboratory. You will work closely with synthetic biologists and research associates to create an efficient, safe, and collaborative laboratory environment. As Lab Operations Manager, you will:
- Facilitate smooth day-to-day laboratory operations
- Oversee BSL2 level work – tissue culture as well as bacterial
- Order supplies and reagents
- Coordinate inventory tracking of plasmids, strains, cell lines, and common stock solutions
- Lead weekly lab operations meetings with the Synthetic Biology Team
- Interface closely with vendors and service providers as we scale our operations
- Schedule preventive maintenance and calibration servicing for laboratory equipment
- Ensure team compliance with best practices
- Oversee EHS and MSDS compliance
- Manage sensitive shipments on dry ice
- Onboard and train new scientists and research associates
- Respond to alarms from environmental control monitoring system
- Work effectively as part of a multifunctional team
Qualifications:
- B.S. or M.S. in Biological Engineering, Biochemistry, Microbiology or a related field
- 3+ years of laboratory experience in an academic or industry setting
- 2+ years industry lab management experience required (include descriptions of your work history managing laboratories in your application)
- Expertise in inventory management and general organizational skills
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment
- Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
- Experience working in GMP/GLP environments a plus
- Laboratory automation experience a plus
