Finance Assistant (Maternity Cover)

Job Purpose

We are looking for an exceptional Accounts/Finance Assistant for a maternity cover position from August/September for a one year period. The role will report directly to the Finance Manager and help us to manage day-to-day accounts duties for the UK and US.

The position offers the opportunity to work for a rapidly growing and successful RegTech/FinTech company with a strong tech start-up culture and team ethos. You will be responsible for a wide variety of UK and international accountancy projects. We are ideally looking for candidates with 2-5 years finance experience 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported
  • Support the Finance Manager with the company accounts for both the UK and USA companies
  • Managing our automated expenses systems and making expense payments
  • Posting invoices to Xero 
  • Reconciliation of UK and US Accounts
  • Raising PO numbers in line with our Cost Governance committee/process
  • Assist with adhoc payroll items in the UK and the USA
  • Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems, including payroll and invoicing
  • Prepare for and support with the annual audit
  • Provide support for annual budgets and financial plans
  • Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations in both the UK and USA
  • Responsibility for reporting on debtors list and working with account management functions to resolve and reduce aged debt issues. 
  • Carry out monthly reconciliation
  • Assisting with monthly control account reconciliations
  • Assisting with VAT Returns
  • Ad-hoc office administrative tasks

What you'll need to succeed 
  • Ideally educated to AAT/Part-Qualified
  • At least two years experience within a Finance
  • Numerical aptitude
  • Good Excel/Google Sheets skills (familiar with pivots tables, v-look up)
  • Xero experience desirable – not essential
