Firmware Engineer

What we’re looking for:
Arable is looking for a detail oriented, hands-on Firmware Engineer to aid in the device level firmware effort. You will be responsible for various aspects of the firmware development, quality, and deployment of RTOS based IoT devices and accessories that solve real problems for our customers while working closely with Product Design, QA, Data Science, Contract Manufacturing and Vendors. You will have opportunities to learn about weather and environmental biology, interact directly with customers, as well as help build the next generation IoT devices. ● Helping farmers in India get what they need most: insurance in tough years.
● Giving produce growers in California the tools to optimize yields and minimize waste
● Helping irrigated farmers in Nebraska manage water more efficiently and sustainably to protect our water supply

What you will do:
● Aid in the development and maintenance of the Arable Mark firmware including feature enhancements and bug fixes
● Use your skills in audio processing to expand our acoustic disdrometer
● Provide new firmware designs and updates for the manufacturing test fixtures
● Aid in creating unit tests for various firmware functional blocks
● Provide weekly status updates to track progress

What you bring - basic qualifications:
● 5+ years of experience (experience with start-ups a plus)
● BSCS, BSCE, or BSEE; MSCS, MSCE, or MSEE preferred
● Very good C skills in embedded design
● Experience with audio signal processing
● Familiarity with Assembly Language programming
● Basic programming skills in Python and Shell scripting
● Experience implementing, debugging, and maintaining shipping code
● Hands on experience with bring-up code and debug of RTOS based 32-bit MCUs and peripherals
● Familiarity with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, debug environments and build systems
● Team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills
● Can-do attitude with good prioritization skills
● Experienced with I2C, SPI and UART interfaces, Flash and SEEPROM programming
● Experience with JTAG interfaces
● Ability to work independently with little direction
● Experience in optical device design and implementation is a plus
