About Role:
Imagine being a part of a company developing over 100 acres of hi-tech greenhouses under glass. As the Pest and Disease Manager, you will supervise the pest and disease programs of the Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) facility. 

What You’ll Do:
  • Supervises, trains, coaches, and assists the scouts in any areas where assistance is needed.
  • Ensures that the greenhouse is scouted on a weekly basis to detect problems and create control strategies.  
  • Prepares weekly bio controls based on scout reports, evaluations, and observations. 
  • Provides weekly insect reports.
  • Keeps updated inventory of beehives and reorders on a weekly basis based on pollination reports. Removes old beehives according recommendations. 
  • Communicates with IPM Coordinators to get all needed materials for pest and disease control in a timely manner.
  • Renews and maintains company application permits and/or certifications.
  • Keeps pollination marks in good condition--keeps beehives in best possible shape. 
  • Ensures equipment is in good operational condition.
  • Maintains IPM treatment area.
  • Maintains IPM inventory as needed.
  • Keeps detailed records of all applications and introductions.
  • Manages the site Safety Data Sheets.
  • Collects samples and sends plants to the lab for residue and disease analyses and follows protocols according results.
  • Follows hygiene and disinfection protocols for virus issues and clean houses process and communicate to Pest & Disease Manager any suggestions before implementing any action.
  • Facilitates animal control program.
  • Facilitates water testing as necessary and reviews with GM to ensure compliance.
  • Participates in the HACCP Team and other Food Safety regulatory programs.
  • Coordinates annual applicator training and any other necessary required training.
  • Ensures equipment is in good operational condition.
  • Ensures that equipment is well calibrated and reports any issues to the maintenance department.

  • Degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, or Biological Sciences or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three years experience in a related roles.
  • Literacy with MS Office products.

Occasional local day travel may be necessary.
