COMPLETE DESCRIPTION:
 
Must possess Cardiac Surgery Operating Room experience, Cardiac Surgery experience. Operational and strategic oversight, come from a best in class program: UCLA, Cedars, Stanford, Mass General (Boston), John Hopkins, MedStar, etc. 
 
The Director of Cardiac Surgery Programs directs, and coordinates assigned aspects of the Institute including but not limited to the Heart Valve Center, Cardiac Rehab Cardiac Operating Rooms (CVORs), and cardiac surgery program. He/she is responsible for the overall fiscal performance of the identified service components, including budgetary functions, all marketing and program development. He/she is responsible for analyzing all costs, productivity, market trends and volume activity for these services and collaborates with other members of the cardiac administrative team to determine broader product line trends. He/she provides business planning, strategic and development functions for the cardiac surgery service and the Valve Center. He/she identifies opportunities for new programs or services, physician recruitment and enhancement of the existing services.
 
The Director will through his/her direct reports and in collaboration with the Administrative Director of Cardiology, direct the daily operations of the Valve Center, Cardiac Rehab and the Department of Cardiac Surgery.
 
He/she must work closely with the departments and services to coordinate the overall Heart and Vascular Institute. This position has ongoing, close working relationships with the hospital administration, cardiac administration, operating room administration, business development staff, Corporate Communications, Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, cardiac anesthesiologists, Medical Directors, cardiologists, Foundation, referring physicians, and the community.
 
The Director will work with the Medical Directors of the Valve Center, Cardiac Rehab and Cardiothoracic Surgery to develop and execute the strategic plan to improve clinical and service quality and increase market share.  He/she facilitates programs and services by providing leadership, planning, support and coordination. Working with physicians, hospital leaders and staff, he/she will enhance and substantially improve each service and thus the overall Heart and Vascular service line.
 
The Director assists in the development of patient care protocols and processes for the nursing, clinical and other support staff and other caregivers and serves as a liaison between physicians, staff, administration and others.
