Transportation Analyst

Duration: 6-9 months
Location: Hackettstown, NJ


The Transportation Analyst is responsible for providing service and cost analysis of the transportation network supporting the Clients supply chain. He/she will assist in ensuring that the transportation network (truckload, transfer points, and LTL) meets the needs of MCNA in delivering product to our customers in the most efficient and cost effective manner. The Transportation Analyst will monitor carrier performance and cost. He/she will serve as the initial point of contact for highlighting carrier service and performance issues or significant cost deviations to drive continuous improvements and cost reductions. He/she will also provide feedback on MCNA transportation needs to the Mars Commercial Manager as needed. 
• Assist in identifying the transportation needs of the MCNA deliver organization 
• Monitor overall carrier performance (service, cost, process improvements) and escalate issues (as appropriate) to the logistics operations and commercial organization for resolution 
• Monitor carrier compliance with all of the Mars technical (EDI) and business process requirements 
• Act as a key interface with the Regional Distribution Managers (RDM), Order Fulfilment Managers, Customer Logistics Managers, S&F Managers, 3PL Warehouse Providers, Transport Providers, and other functional business areas as required 
• Work with warehouse teams to coordinate and prioritize inbound freight to meet customer service goals 
• Support and direct the warehouse teams as necessary to ensure customer service objectives. 
• Fulfill IBOs and complete projects for the collective benefit of cost improvement initiatives. 
• Investigate and troubleshoot any customer failures quickly and implement solutions to prevent future issues and improve on-time appointment percentages. 
• Act as an escalation point for the warehouses and factories to resolve any carrier capacity issues. 
• Support carriers in meeting business requirements and KPI’s, act as the first point of contact on improvement plans as required by the regional carrier scorecard. 
• Maintain and publish daily reports for on-time performance (by site, by carrier) 
• Assist in monitoring measurement of FTW and FTC Truck Utilization 
• Work to support Commercial partners on addressing significant carrier performance issues 
• Ensure that carrier management data is available within the organization 
• Identify potential initiatives to reduce transportation costs and improve truckload utilization 
The Transportation Analyst will act as a key monitoring and analytical resource for transportation service and cost. The role requires high levels of customer focus, drive for results, analytical skills and process management understanding. The Transportation Analyst must be able to influence others and perform well in a dynamic business and team environment 
 
Required Knowledge/Experience:
• 2-4 years of experience working in an analytical role within Customer Service, Physical Logistics or other similar functions 
• Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects and build relationships. 
 
Preferred:
• 1-2 years of experience working with Transportation, Distribution or Customer Service 
• Demonstrated ability to analyze system results and make appropriate recommendations 
• Ability to identify process issues, information needs and solve problems 
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment, strong interpersonal skills 
• Service oriented attitude
 
Education & Professional Qualification:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred
