Here is a brief Job description:
The emphasis of this position is for advanced calibrator and quality control solution formulation and manufacturing integration, with emphasis on new reagent development. 
In this position the scientist will work closely with assay development scientists in demonstrating reagent formulation and packaging feasibility, generating product specifications, characterizing the product, developing manufacturing and QC processes and transferring these stable processes to Manufacturing. 
This person must be capable of developing manufacturing processes, packaging and analytical methods associated with reagents used for diagnostic assays. Operation skills require the ability to structure manufacturing process, such as BOMS, routing, shelf life, and lead times. This person will have experience in utilizing various project management tools, design tools and statistical analysis tools to ensure the delivery of robust, reliable and accurate processes to routine manufacturing. 
This person will interface with different groups within Siemens as well as outside vendors, and needs to have good communication skills. 
Desired Skills: 
Ø  Strong experience in developing processes and test methodologies associated with diagnostic reagent products, including enzymes, preservatives, buffers, and surfactants. 
Ø  Ideal candidate will have a strong medical device background, packaging/laminate experience, material and coating selection experience, and experience of small complex medical device assemblies in a clean room environment. 
Ø  Knowledge of DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) and lean methodology required. Six Sigma Black Belt certification a plus. 
Ø  Broad chemistry/biochemistry knowledge of proteins and aqueous chemistry. 
Ø  Strong collaborative and team work attributes. 
Ø  Excels at troubleshooting and developing corrective solutions and completing projects on schedule. 
Ø  Must be able to design effective experiments (DOE) followed by thorough data analysis. 
Ø  Must be hands-on, willing to get into the lab to execute to plan. 
Ø  Excellent documentation skills. 
Ø  Delivering well-characterized and robust reagent processes to manufacturing. 
Ø  Lead role in development projects, from conception to completion (transfer to manufacturing). 
Ø  Source and qualify external vendors. 
Ø  Extensive lab work designing and executing experiments, and analyzing resultant data. 
Ø  Document newly developed processes for DHF and IP 
Position Requirements: 
Ø  Advanced degree in Chemistry or related scientific discipline, strongly desired. 
Ø  A minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience in Life Sciences, Medical Devices, or Diagnostics. 
Ø  Effective verbal and written communication skills, team work and ability to take initiative. 
Ø  Appreciation of process quality and specifications as a requirement for manufacturing.
