SHORT DESCRIPTION
Emphasis for this position is on an intermediate level of electrical engineering with equipment and processes commonly utilized in power plants, such as, but not limited to generators, excitation systems, AC/DC motors, low and medium voltage switchgear.
COMPLETE DESCRIPTION:
The Engineer II (Electrical) is an intermediate level position working under limited supervision and receives both specific and limited instructions as to required tasks and results expected; performs a variety of routine tasks utilizing experience and familiarity with the standards, processes, procedures, methods, practices and programs of the Department and Company. Emphasis for this position is on an intermediate level of electrical engineering with equipment and processes commonly utilized in power plants, such as, but not limited to generators, excitation systems, AC/DC motors, low and medium voltage switchgear, transformers, batteries, relay protection/coordination, emergency generators, and precipitators.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide project lead on assigned projects and provide technical support to the Bayside Power Station As project lead, monitor ongoing work activities to confirm manufacturer/fabricator compliance to project plans, specifications and monitor/enforces compliance to all regulatory requirements. – 40%.
2. Coordinate work with Bayside Construction, plant outage coordinators, station planners and on-site and off-site contractors. – 10%.
3. Provide NERC Compliance and support for the successful integration of NERC requirements including standing up a NERC Compliance program for Bayside Power Station – 25%.
4. Supports Energy Supply power plants in identifying and solving O&M problems. Augment plant staff when needed to meet day-to-day and outage requirements. – 10%.
5. Perform any other task as assigned by the Lead Electrical Engineer. - 15%

Direct Supervision:
None Required
Indirect Supervision: None.
RELATIONSHIPS
Key Internal:
Frequently with Lead Electrical Engineer, Station Operations, Engineering and Technical staff and Engineering & Project Management staff.
Key External:
· Occasional interaction with OEM and Non-OEM engineering and management, maintenance services and parts suppliers, vendors, consultants and industry group participants
QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualifications for this position are stated in TEC Engineering Career Path, Administrative Policy 2.13.
Education:
· Minimum of Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET accredited four year college. (Required)
· Advanced education /training in electrical engineering. (Preferred)
Licenses/Certifications:
· Pass the Florida Fundamentals of Engineering exam. (Preferred)
Experience:
Required:
· Should be able to independently evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications; may have significant role in training, orientation, assigning work or supervising other employees; may prepare engineering analyses, specifications and reports on an independent basis.
Preferred:
· Minimum of 4 years of direct work experience performing the Duties & Responsibilities of this position.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA):
Required:
· Demonstrated sound knowledge in electrical engineering work related areas.
Preferred:
· Demonstrated knowledge of Company policies and work procedures. Proficient skill with Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Power Point. Knowledge of OSI Pi Historian. Demonstrated knowledge of project engineering in electrical engineering.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
· Travel – Up to 20%, overnight and extended assignments possible. Travel from home office to Big Bend, Bayside and Polk Power Stations is expected and could be frequent. Travel can be nationally and limited internationally.
· Working in an industrial environment (including heights and confined space)
· Working some overtime (nights, weekends and holidays)
· Working outdoors in hot, humid, wet and/or cold conditions 25% to 50% of the work day.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ REQUIREMENTS:
· This position requires climbing stairs and scaffolding, utilizing safety harnesses, respiratory protection and other PPE required by the work environment.
· Ability to stand and walk for extended period of time
· Working in noise, dust and high humidity areas while utilizing Personnel Protection Equipment. Flexibility to crawl in and out of tight confined areas.
