TITLE: CNC Machine Operator***
1st shift: 6:30am – 3pm M-F (occasional Saturday shift)
Description: The Production Associate III refers to an employee to whom specific leadership responsibilities have been delegated as part of his/her regular job. The PA III have no responsibility or authority regarding personnel matters in the group such as hiring, firing, disciplinary action, etc., which are the sole responsibility of Management but will recommend actions to management as necessary.
Team Leader will assist in planning and scheduling work, instruct employees in proper methods and perform any type of work required for the proper functioning of the group. A general list of Working Team Leader responsibilities is included in this job description; additional department specific responsibilities may be established. The Team Leader is a working leader; when not performing Team Leader activities, the leader is performing the job skills of the production associate classification.
Key responsibilities/essential functions include: Train employees to applicable Operation Instructions (OI), Standard Manufacturing Practice (SMP), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Equipment set-up and performance of related first piece inspection to insure achievement of desired quality levels. Performance of ongoing quality checks, recording of requested data and timely reporting of discrepancies. Monitoring of machine and process variables, taking corrective action as required and promptly reporting conditions negatively impacting quality, output, or equipment performance. Interface with electronic quality, production and documentation systems providing accurate information. Completion of any other activities required to deliver finished piece parts to the specified quality levels on a timely basis. Comply with EHS regulations and policies. Group Leader Responsibilities Include: Direct the work activities of a defined group of employees Be responsible for the work of a defined group Assist in planning and scheduling of work Instruct employees in proper methods: ensure all training is documented using required forms Perform and support any type of work required for proper functioning of a group: to include normal production, rework, indirect work, etc. Assist engineering and manufacturing support on the development and prove out of new products, methods, tools and test equipment. Communicate to the group all changes and assure compliance Provide to shift supervisor quantities at the end of the shift and recommend ways of making up any deficiencies in expected quantities Communicate shortages on the floor to shift supervisor/materials personnel and accumulate the necessary parts and/or materials to the group Must demonstrate a high degree of self-initiative, leadership and quality consciousness Communicate to the shift supervisor repeated problems of product within the group. This communication is assumed to include other Team Leaders both on shift as well as between shifts and assist in problem solving Additional department specific responsibilities may be established
Required Qualifications: 1. Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written instructions. 2. Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and interpret mechanical drawings including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. 3. Demonstrated ability in shop mathematics to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division decimals and fractions. 4. Have ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. 5. Demonstrated ability to set-up and operate various numerically controlled machines and other precision metal removal equipment 6. Demonstrated ability to use mechanical measuring devices such as micrometers, height gauges, indicators, etc. 7. Requires the ability to lift 25 lbs on a repetitive basis.* 8. Able to discriminate visually to perform various checks.* 9. Bending motions from waist required.* 10. Repetitive hand and wrist motion required.* 11. Extended period of standing/sitting.*
The Machine Operator III supports manufacturing and engineering by producing production parts, new tools and fixtures, and/or development of manufacturing processes requiring grinding, lapping, or CNC equipment. The position is a role with a strong initial focus on process simplification and improvement and must be able to work autonomously and within a team. Key responsibilities/essential functions include: Development of processes and programs to produce production parts and tools Schedule and track workflow, materials, and resources through the machine shop to satisfy requirements Train Machinist I on the use of equipment Work with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GDT) to produce accurate parts and assemblies Utilize Computer Numerical Control (CNC) equipment to produce accurate parts in various quantities to meet development project needs Utilize precision measuring tools to ensure in-process or finished product matched specified tolerances Strong metrology background and ability to specify tools and machining processes to improve product or tool manufacturing capabilities Complete documentation for tracking of time and cost related to development activities Perform routine and/or corrective maintenance on machine shop equipment Develop maintenance procedure techniques Track shop equipment performances and adjust maintenance schedules for optimum efficiency of equipment Comply with EHS regulations and policies Lead teams and projects to drive improvements in processes and documentation Support new product development requirements by performing assigned work as needed Required Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED or local equivalent 6 months or more technical experience working in a machine shop, Ability to perform Machine Tool Math (including trigonometry) Ability to perform detail oriented work and complete projects on time Basic computer knowledge Ability to communicate, receive and understand instructions regarding duties to be performed.
