Risk & Controls - Director

Job Title - Director level person with CPA and Big 4 public accounting firm (Risk & Control)

OVERVIEW AND REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position directly assists the Finance organization in strengthening the control environment that various functions operate in i.e. General Accounting, Shared Service Center, Treasury, Tax, and Financial System.  It is a unique hands-on role that advises and monitors risk remediation and control execution. 

 OTHER REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
Gain in-depth understanding of the Company’s operation models, organization structure and proprietary technology platforms and business strategies.
Directs staff and initiatives that support risk and control management programs, to include governance support, risk oversight, risk infrastructure development, identification, quantification, and aggregation of key and emerging risks and/or operational risks and controls. Advises senior management and influences process change.
Reviews, communicates and recommends the development of risk policies and procedures in partnership with senior leaders to ensure appropriateness and adequacy versus industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Provides counsel to business unit managers on risk management issues and supports the evaluation of new product strategies on their impact to WageWorks risk profile.
Be intimately familiar with processes and functions that Finance organization manages and connects with; assess business needs and assist the organization with setting priorities.
Conduct risk assessments and formulate mitigation plans; identify control gaps and opportunities for improvement.
Collaborates with colleagues across the organization to ensure complete and appropriate documentation of process flows, risk assessment and controls.
Act as the Subject Matter Expert to educate accounting / finance personnel and business partners to develop control environment awareness and talent pipeline.
Design a user self-sufficient process to organize and store control evidence; implement the process at the control executor level to improve audit efficiency.
Contribute to development of cross functional processes/and or structures that improve the efficiency and timeliness of financial transaction and reporting within the organization.
Anticipate and ensure development and maintenance of robust, scalable internal controls to support the company’s growth.
Participate in special projects, as required.
Overlay assistance to the General Ledger (GL) operations and/or Reporting Teams during month-end and quarter-end demands.

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of business processes and accounting are also required. Obtain a well-rounded and in-depth knowledge of    ERP systems, but not at expertise level.
A strong customer service orientation is essential.
Demonstrated ability to adapt to the changing demands of business is a must.

 EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting.  
 CPA with a Big 4 public accounting firm, strongly preferred.  
 Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience, a mix of public accounting and private industry strongly preferred. 
 Strong planning, project management and analytical skills. 
 Excellent leadership, communication and influencing skills
