Procurement Specialist 2

Position Overview: 
 The PLM HUB Tactical Procurement Specialist is responsible for supporting the procurement and purchasing activities within the Siemens Molecular Diagnostics (MDX) HUB organization. He/She is responsible for supplier qualification, onboarding, purchasing, expediting, and order tracking to support the needs of new product development activities. In addition, this role will be responsible for coordinating with corporate procurement functions (eg. commodity managers) and troubleshooting vendor related issues, as they arise. 
 Location & Reporting: 
 • Berkeley, California 
 • Reporting into the head of Supplier Management at MDX 
 • Travel requirement 10% 
 • Coordinate with development teams (R&D, Marketing and Supply Chain) to plan purchasing activities, prioritize requests, and expedite where needed. 
 • Onboard suppliers that are needed to support new product introduction, in line with standard procedures 
 • Submit purchasing requests, ensure internal stakeholder alignment, and follow-up with suppliers 
 • Main point of contact regarding all purchasing issues for the MDX PLM HUB organization 
 • Frequent interaction with internal departments, corporate functions as well as external parties, primarily vendors and suppliers 
 • Create, implement, execute, and/or improve processes, to support the needs of new product introduction 
 • Execute a structured approach to cost estimation 
 • Support the Quality team to maintain high quality standards and proactively work with vendors to avoid quality issues and resolve open issues in a timely manner 
 • Participate in creating and managing agreements in close interaction with Legal, as needed 
 • Engage in supplier evaluations by providing input on supplier performance 
 Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience: 
 • University degree in the area of Business Administration, Economics or similar combined with professional working experience, preferably from a large international company (prior IVD experience a plus) 
 • Multi-year professional experience in Procurement is a must (additional logistics experience a plus) 
 • Ability to work with stakeholders in complex organizational structures 
 • Strong sense of ownership and willingness to drive topics across different functions 
 • Strong knowledge of IT tools such as SAP and other relevant IT Applications, e.g. MS Excel 
 • Flexible and able to work effectively in a team-oriented / changing environment to conceptualize and socialize ideas 
 • Ability to organize workload, multi-task, and work under pressure to meet dynamic and multiple deadlines 
 • Ability to communicate across organizational levels, functions and cultures 
 • “Hands on mentality” necessary
