6+ months contract to start with (potential to convert fulltime)


It will start out with 6 mo contract but if they work out will hire on full time.

The Technical Writer is responsible for creating written documentation necessary to support
customer use of Siemens Rail Automation products.

Responsibilities:
*Researches and compiles accurate manuals covering the complex electronic equipment or
software manufactured by division for customer use. This includes interfacing with Engineering
personnel, formatting the project, researching data, creating artwork, participating in the formal
review process and producing camera-ready and printer ready (PDF) project masters .
*Inputs completed project to the Technical Information Department Manager for Archiving.
*Provides photographic input for assigned project or for other applications as needed.
*Participates in the creation of audio/visual presentations.
*Prepares bulletins as required.
*Maintains adequate technical manual inventory for Shipping Department to fulfill customer
orders.
*Manages technical documentation projects to ensure achievement of target deadlines.
*Attends Company and industry-related meetings, as required.
*Establishes individual goals which are aligned with the Company's business strategies and
objectives.
*Functions as a contributing member of the teams, as assigned.
*Assists the department in the accomplishment of the team's goals.
*Maintains Company information in a confidential manner.

Required Knowledge/Skills /Education:
-Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
-Minimum of 10 years experience as a technical writer in an industrial electronics related industry.
-A minimum of 5 years experience in a “minimal supervision” level role with full responsibility
for a documentation project from research phase to press-ready copy.
-Electronics and/or computer background required.
-Communications equipment background required.
-Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Adobe Framemaker.
-Must have experience in or relative to AutoCad and Adobe Acrobat Professional Suite.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills /Education:
-Experience in production of Computer Based Training (CBT) a plus .
-Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro and Microsoft PowerPoint desired.
-Experience with analog and digital still photography and video.

Experienced with Microsoft Office, FrameMaker, Adobe Illustrator preferred. Experience creating technical manuals a plus. I need someone with 5-7 years experience
