Senior Associate, Packaging Engineer

Principle Accountabilities:
· Identify and apply new and existing packaging technologies to innovative products for the consumer to provide growth of RD&E
· Create packaging that consumers find appealing and easy to use; packaging that is compelling and allows SC Johnson to win at the store shelf
· Research and evaluate materials and components for the development of cost-effective packaging to meet the needs of the consumer. Willing to gain knowledge in consumer insights and technical areas as necessary
· Provide technical leadership within a multi-functional team to drive the development of innovative new products
· Provide technical assistance to correct package-related problems to maintain production schedules and product quality
· Contribute to the implementation of the company’s PCR (post-consumer recycled content) goals
· Stay in the forefront of packaging innovations and trends so that new technologies can be leveraged in new products and new product packaging
· Develop/update packaging specifications and bills of materials
Minimum Requirements:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering (Packaging, Mechanical, or Materials)
Desired Qualifications:
· Strong technical expertise in multiple packaging disciplines; dispensing systems, materials, closures, manufacturing line requirements, plastic molding technologies, and product/environment compatibility
· Experience and technical competency in primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging design and qualification (e.g. product/environment compatibility, distribution and environmental testing, manufacturing qualification)
· Knowledge of consumer testing techniques and execution of appropriate studies to evaluate product performance during use
· Demonstrated problem-solving abilities
· Ability to progress multiple projects concurrently
· Strong communication and teamwork skills
· Project Management experience, including p.m. systems(e.g. SAP Product Lifecycle Management, Matrix One, MS Project)
· Design of Experiments and understanding of statistical processes
· Cost Savings Experience
· Aerosol technology; filling, labeling, testing and components
· Plastics technologies; thermoforming, blow molding, injection molding, dispensing
systems
· CAD Experience; emphasis on 2D/Artios knowledge
