Job Description:
The primary function of this role is: Providing L1/2 systems support and L1 networking support for engineering teams developing enterprise server and storage products.
 
Description of work:
Investigate and resolve application and network issues reported by internal customers using monitoring software, root-cause analysis and troubleshooting skills.
Support engineering departments by implementing proof-of-concept Storage/HCI appliances and reference architectures.
Manage network hardware and production systems providing backbone, tools and services for multiple product teams in Enterprise product group.
Adhere to access controls, backup schedules and standard documents for compliance with secure development framework ie: PCI, HIPPA, lifecycle control, Agile, etc.
Support LAN with MS AD and multi-OS server environment - interface with WAN NetOps team for modifications and site-to-site integration as required.
Make recommendations for future additions and site-stability upgrades that align with team vision, corporate strategy and customer business requirements.
Monitor, troubleshoot and document 10,000 nodes in 88,000 sqft of lab space supporting 150 local engineering customers and enabling hundreds of remote users.
 
Requirements:
Experience with enterprise Storage, server and switch products.
Focus on Server and Application/Systems administration with exposure to networking tech.
 Experience with Linux, Windows Server, or VMWare/vSphere/venter.
May require [Certification in related technologies + 2 years’ experience] or [4+ years practical experience].
 
Other Tasks and Relevant Experience/Skills:
Working with sensitive components in ESD controlled environment [SSD, HDD, RAM, PCIE].
Racking, cabling and configuring enterprise hardware [PowerEdge, Dell/EMC Storage, Force10 and PowerConnect, Juniper, Cisco].
Knowledge of HCI solutions, SDS or other converged environments [VX, Nutanix, Nexenta].
Troubleshooting server and workstation hardware components [RDMA, NIC, RAID, NVME].
Configuring network distribution hardware [switches, routers, IPS, fiber cassettes, patch panels].
Troubleshooting network protocols and solutions in ~5k node + segments [OSI, RSTP/MST, TCP/UDP flows].
Performing day-to-day administrative tasks and OS support for 50+ user environments [Linux, Windows, VMware].
Data protection and disaster recovery concepts/integration [vSAN, Veeam, multi-site replication, HA].
Maintaining core production services [DNS, DHCP, AD, NTP, SMB, SMTP, FTP, SNMP].
Tracking cross-functional efforts between departments in large corporate environments [facilities, lab/network operations, IT & cyber security teams].
Supporting large-scale patching, capacity planning, & resource monitoring activities.
Coordinating or communicating outages or requirements to Engineering, Network, and other Infrastructure or services/support teams.
Developing and Maintaining processes and documentation for team member use and reference.
Exposure to WAN accelerators [Silver Peak] Network Monitoring Software [Solarwinds] and VPN solutions [Sonic Wall].
 
This position is onsite - Parmer, Austin, TX
Flexible work schedule - 9am-5pm, 10am-6pm

Must Haves:
