System Level Controls Engineer

Position Overview 
 Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy Boulder R&D Center is composed of a multi-disciplinary group of engineering experts in aerodynamics, acoustics, structures, loads, and controls, who work concurrently to develop new designs and technologies. This world-class center offers an open, inspiring, and diverse working environment located in downtown Boulder, Colorado. 
 
 We are looking for a highly-talented and motivated engineer to contribute to the development of new products and new technologies, to make real what matters, clean energy for generations to come. 
 
 Responsibilities 
 As a System Level Control Engineer, you will be responsible for: 
 
 - Development and documentation of control and monitoring functions to satisfy requirements 
 - Performing simulations of wind turbine systems and processing resulting data 
 - Collecting and processing data from field testing of wind turbines 
 - Interfacing with software group to implement design solutions 
 - Effective interaction, communication, and collaboration with aerodynamic, electrical, structural and controls engineers in a global team-based environment to meet design requirements 
 - Contributing to solutions in a self-managed and target oriented manner 
 Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience 
 System Level Control Engineers are required to possess the following: 
 - MS or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or related engineering field 
 - Proficiency in programming Simulink, MATLAB, C/C++, or similar 
 - Knowledge of controls theory 
 - Strong analytical skills, self-motivation, and ability to solve difficult technical challenges through innovation, dedication, and cooperation with a global team 
 - Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written reports 
 - 5 years of relevant experience 
 Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience 
 System Level Control Engineers are desired to possess the following: 
 - Experience handling and performing engineering analysis on large data sets 
 - Experience in measurement techniques and data analysis, including time-series and spectral analysis 
 - Experience modeling physical systems with Simscape, Modelica, or similar 
 - Knowledge of wind turbine loads, structures, aeroelasticity, and supporting analysis tools 
 - Knowledge of wind turbine design and certification
