Design Engineer

Location:          Zelienople, PA
Duration:          9 Months
 
Preparation of approval and production drawings, utilizing Creo Parametric and SmartAssembly, in conformance with specifications and contract documents. Provide project execution assistance on complex system products.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interprets civil engineers’ plans and specifications and prepares submittal package of Leopold equipment to suit the design.
Uses Creo to create parametric product models and assemblies capturing design intent via parameters and relations which will then be used for development of 2D layout and detail drawings.
Prepares approval drawings using drawing skills, design capabilities and all necessary calculations including the best combination of preliminary information and contributing data for the development of an optimal design.
Makes final production drawings in accordance with approval drawings and specifications from the engineers and prepares bills of material utilizing the assemblies made during submittal.
Prepares layouts of complete products and complex assembly arrangements.
Perform standard calculations in Excel based on the data provided in specifications and conforming to company standards.
Prepares P&IDs of complete product systems.
Checks work of designers and coordinates approval submittals, production releases, and IO&M manuals.
Reviews domestic and international order documentation, reconciles, and prepares for order entry.
Prepares and controls plan of action for execution of assigned projects and ensures all project budgets and time lines are met.
Performs project specific structural and process oriented calculations. Accountable for calculation accuracy on all assigned projects.
Recommends updates and provides solutions for existing product standards and specifications.
Provide support to R&D for new product development from a project perspective.
Provides technical review of all documentation prior to client submittal to ensure designs are in accordance with company standards and project specifications.
Coordinates with operations, quality assurance, and vendors as needed to ensure technical and cost compliance of manufactured and major buyout products.
Attends offsite meetings (domestically & internationally) serving as technical/ engineering lead on assigned projects.
Troubleshoots field related engineering issues as required.
Provides technical support to sales, field service, and project management staff.
Analyzes existing product lines and makes recommendations for cost improvements (value engineering).
Other essential duties as assigned by Supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S Mechanical/Civil/Chemical Engineering.
Mechanical CAD proficiency, Creo (Pro/E) experience, basic AutoCAD knowledge Minimum 3 years direct Creo (Pro/E) use.
Basic Excel knowledge, must be able to understand and follow simple formulas
