Development Manager

Job Description:
Candidate may support multiple projects in various stages of progress.; Responsible for the design and development activities associated with a specific product or group of products from product definition and planning through production; release; and end of life. Serves as the central resource for all aspects of the engineering solution; which can include: boards; mechanical; peripherals; power; OS; OM; BIOS; solution SW; test; diags; Info dev; ODMs; and vendors. The Development Manager is responsible for leading the extended engineering team and working with the cross functional core teams to develop and introduce products and solutions to our customers with the right features; customer experience; quality; schedule; cost; continuity of supply; service capability and sales volumes/financials. This position is for a Development Manager within the Dell Wyse group focusing on Hardware; Software; or Solutions programs.;
Principal Accountabilities:
• Manages programs within given constraints of scope; schedule; budget; and quality through the duration of the project;
• Acts as primary point of contact and coordinates Development and Test resources to successfully release new products and sustaining programs on time and within budget;
• Provides daily direction and tasking of a team of system engineers;
• Utilizes standard tools like MS Project; Excel; and Visio to track and manage project activities like schedule creation; schedule alignment; schedule tracking; and task dependencies;
• Develops the engineering schedule in coordination with the engineering extended teams and Core Team;
• Establishes clear objectives and deliverables for each program that support the LOB’s business objectives;
• Develops Phase Review deliverable document(s); schedules timely executive review; and delivers phase reviews along with interim updates. Tracks progress; reports status and makes necessary corrections to achieve program objectives;
• Manages major risks and issues through effective contingency planning and proper escalation;
• Drives the initial triage; debug; and resolution of engineering defects;
• Drives engineering solutions to field quality issues.;
• Supports Services and IPS with customer issues.;
• Coordinates validation of new components for production products.;
• Supports and responds to requests for production product enhancements;
• Bachelor’s degree and 3-6 years of Engineering Program Manager/Development Manager experience.;
• Proficient with MS Project;
• Proven track record with ability to lead effective teams in complex and cross functional environments as well as working with global suppliers to meet project goals. Some evening conference calls will be required;
• Strong initiative and ability to work in a self-directed environment; delivers on commitments;
• Exceptional written and verbal communications skills with the ability to present clear and concise information to team;
• Ability to form plans and deliver results on-time according to a set schedule;
• Ability to multi-task and manage several programs simultaneously;
• PMP certification a plus
