SUMMARY:
Reporting to Associate Director, Procurement, this position is responsible for hands-on management of a Procurement team, involving team leadership, collaboration with key business leadership and stakeholders, formulating value realization and customer satisfaction strategies, developing procurement programs and approaches for multiple categories in Corporate Function areas (including Sustainability, Legal, Finance, Accounting, and Insurance), with a focus on balancing superior service to internal business clients with maximized value for the company of items/services purchased.
This position will drive the Business Unit strategy and agenda across Corporate Indirect Procurement through effective communication and interaction within the company.
The selected individual will be responsible for overseeing a small team of focused procurement individuals chartered with developing and maturing Supplier relationships to insure targeted departmental and company objectives are met.
Duties of the position will include supporting management’s vision for the execution of Procurements multi-year plan; executing the procurement life cycle for categories personally accountable as well as oversight for direct reports’ categories of accountability; participation in frequent steering meetings to measure and discuss supplier performance relative to performance expectation; developing Continuous Improvement strategies for the responsible categories and directing resources relating to project management; executing strategies that will develop the supplier- relationship, while continuously fostering this model to support proactive technology and innovation ideas that will ensure the competitiveness of in the marketplace.
This position will also be responsible for measuring and reporting category savings on a quarterly basis.
This will include a savings analysis compared to established goals and objectives for the category.
This position will be responsible for monitoring commodity market activity and conditions to determine overall strategy to eliminate the cost impact to the Company.
This position will require market forecasting for budgets and analyzing budget versus actual costs.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor's degree; agriculture business, business administration, economics, law, or engineering preferred.
Experience:
10+ years of experience in related field; strong technical and operational knowledge of manufacturing processes; familiarity with business and contract law as applied to supplier relationships required; Animal science/husbandry experience will enhance position effectiveness. Exposure to global sourcing is a plus.
Computer Skills:
Standard computer skills; experience in spreadsheet, database and statistical analysis are necessary.
Communication Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; formal presentations are required.
Special Skills:
Strong negotiating skills; ability to multi-task, attention to detail, organized; exemplary customer service skills; judgment to handle confidential information and challenging business situations; ability to lead and influence others; effective and proven strategic planning, project management, problem solving, leadership and team building skills. Supervisory: Responsible for supervising a group of personnel who perform different tasks and activities.
Travel: 12 or fewer trips a year.
