Job Title: Jr. Assistant Low Voltage Systems Technician
Duration: 12+ months with possible extension
Location: Oakland, CA
Performs maintenance and repair on a wide variety of critical LVS, as well as related construction duties (removal and replacement) required to support CHRCO’s facilities low voltage cabling systems.
Identifies and corrects LVS code violations (NFPA, NEC, CBC, etc.) and related deficiencies.
May be required to test and repair specialized equipment such as Fire alarm, Overhead paging, Pager, Nurse / Code blue, Camera, TV, Panic alarm, Telecom, intercoms, door control, card reader, and other miscellaneous equipment.
Responsible for managing the outside LVS vendors/contractors in order to assure quality work and competitive pricing with standardized work criteria, to include firewall penetration management and above ceiling cable management.
Document organizational cost savings via effective use of the LVS in-house labor. Practical and cost effective utilization of LVS vendors and subcontractors.
Uses hand tools, power tools and testing instruments to repair and maintain LVS equipment.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Hospital leadership, physicians, managers and staff.
Participate with regulatory initiatives. OSHPD, Cal-OSHA, FCC, and other federal, state and local regulatory authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ’s)
Assist as needed with projects. Determine operational impacts, taking necessary actions to mitigate potential problems (e.g. coordinate with the Engineering, HIS, PBX department in planning any shutdowns and connections).
Support the organizations goals and objectives through appropriate communications with managers and staff
Ensure that staff maintains credentials and licenses that are necessary to perform their duties.
Attends meetings as required. Participates in educational programs and in service meetings.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
Low Voltage systems core competencies include understanding electrical, mechanical, digital/analog electronics, and audio/video, networking and communications systems.
Minimum of five (5) years working experience with low voltage systems.
Experienced and strong working knowledge of various critical low voltage systems essential to hospital function strongly preferred.
Experienced and strong working knowledge of various building trades work.
