Mechanical Design Engineer

Location:           Orlando FL
Duration:           6 Months+
 
Primary responsibility for developing designs and 3D models of wind turbine parts, systems and submodules according to standards and product requirements.
 Drive design parameterization, creation of parametric models and reduction of design time.
Responsible for design specifications (2D drawings with geometrical product specifications (GPS), purchase specifications)  .
Generate cost-out measures and ensure implementation.
Drive design development considering cost, safety, manufacturability, assembly, serviceability and reliability.
Participate in design risk assessments (FMEA) and responsible for tolerance analysis.
Create and analyze technical reports necessary to document the steps of the design process.
Ensure time to market and quality in the deliveries to our projects.
Responsible for continued development of the design process, design guidelines and design rules.
Responsible for collaborating with regional and global teams to ensure designs are corrected or developments are carried out to resolve design issues.
Ensure best practices and lessons learned are shared across platforms to facilitate knowledge sharing and encourage collaboration.
 
Qualifications:
BS degree in relevant engineering field or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
8+ years of experience with mechanical design and geometrical product specifications (GPS) preferred.
Expertise and experience with NX, SAP and TeamCenter
Experience in design parameterization, product development and design optimization.
Excellent communication skills required. 
 Strong team player and familiar with working in large matrix organizations.
 Ability to travel 20%.
