About the Autoware Foundation
The Autoware Foundation was founded in 2018 to initiate, build and grow open-source projects for self-driving mobility.
Autoware.AI was started in 2015 by Shinpei Kato at Nagoya University. Today, Autoware.AI is supported by the largest autonomous driving open source community with 3,500+ stars on GitHub and 500+ accounts on Slack. Autoware.AI has found widespread and international adoption as it is used by more than 100 companies and runs on more than 30 vehicles in more than 20 different countries.
Now we are taking Autoware to the next level. The keystone project of the Autoware Foundation is
Autoware.Auto, which is creating a clean architecture for self-driving with an open-source, high-quality reference implementation. The initial design has been driven by engineers at Apex.AI and Tier IV. We are now seeking an independent system architect with strong software implementation skills who can guide the Autoware Foundation and Foundation members to a widely-accepted reference architecture for self-driving software.
