Software Developer (Systems Software)

Looking for an expert software developer with strong Java experience to develop search technology for a mission-critical application. The developer will work on an agile, cross-functional team with a wide range of responsibilities including:
  • Software development in Java and Python for search technology (e.g. Elasticsearch, Solr, Blur) on AWS
  • Expertise at configuring AWS/C2S Cloud environments following best practices. 
  • Assemble and integrate cloud operating platforms using open source & partner tools. 
  • Integrate infrastructure builds with continuous code deployment processes.
  • Build automated deployments using configuration management playbooks and recipes. 
  • Ensure the performance, reliability, security and ease of maintenance for deployments. 
  • Measure success through the hand-over and successful adoption of solutions.
  • Apply knowledge of the latest trends in the DevOps industry.
  • Experience working in a Linux environment and with Amazon Web Services.  
  • Implementing build pipelines with Git commit hooks (Code Commit/Code Deloy), Jenkins plug-ins, configuration management and AMI builders.
  • Using configuration management with tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
  • Creating automation scripts with Python, bash (Cloud Formation, Cloud Init)
  • Utilizing Linux and package management; RDS and NoSQL storage (DynamoDB). 
  • Experience building and running Docker containers is a plus.
  • AWS Developer, SysOps or DevOps Certification is a plus.

Core Position Requirements:
  • Strong development experience with Java
  • Experience with at least one of Apache Hadoop or search technology (e.g. Elasticsearch, Apache Solr, Apache Blur)
  • Current or recent security clearance with full scope polygraph
  • At least eleven years of development experience (applicable degrees may be credited toward experience)

Ideal candidates will also have some of the following:
  • Experience developing software in an enterprise environment
  • Experience with developing software for AWS
  • Experience using source control tools such as Git and Subversion
  • Experience with continuous integration tools such as Jenkins, Hudson, or Travis
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Ansible, or Chef
  • Knowledge of Agile/Lean/Scrum methodologies
  • Experience building and managing Docker containers

Other project details:
  • Project team works core business hours, but the prime is flexible
  • Development team is located at contractor site

Clearance: Active or recent security clearance with full scope polygraph is required
