Registered Veterinary Technicians - (FT - Lafayette)

  • $22.00 - $30.00/hour
  • Are you a smart, compassionate, technology savvy, rockstar RVT who has a great work ethic and loves working with people and animals? Then we want you as part of our team!

Animal Eye Care, a leading provider of specialty ophthalmic services in the San Francisco Bay Area for more than two decades, is seeking experienced (and awesome) registered veterinary technicians to provide support for all of our services. The ideal candidates should have experience working in a fast-paced, high-quality veterinary environment. Experience in a specialty environment is especially desired.

    Who We're Looking For:

The successful candidate will be someone with a focus on excellence, great energy, passion about working with pets and their people, stellar work ethic, someone who is excited to learn, and who has excellent communication and client services skills! We are looking for the very best of the best to complement our team of extraordinarily talented board certified specialists.

Veterinary ophthalmology is a complex and fascinating specialty. Our veterinary ophthalmic technicians are crucial to the treatment of our patients and helping to promote vision and ocular comfort. We believe in empowering our technicians to learn a ton and do a ton, which means that they'll be able to contribute more in our busy and growing ophthalmology practice than they typically would in other specialty practices. Lots of client contact, lots of hands on diagnostics, and some very cool equipment. If you were already working with us, here are some things you would have done last month:

Interacted with pharmacies, ophthalmic supply companies, referring veterinarians and staff as well as with potential or already established clients.

Assisted pet owners by sharing your skilled techniques and knowledge with them to encourage the best possible prognosis for their pet.

    Assisted with ocular exams.

Provided comprehensive client education in person and on the phone.

Performed or assisted with diagnostic testing (Schirmer Tear Testing, Tonometry, Ocular Ultrasounds, Electroretinogram testing, etc.)

    Anesthesia monitoring.

Used and maintained some very specific instrumentation and equipment that is ophthalmology specific, including phacoemulsification surgery equipment, surgical microscopes, ophthalmic lasers, etc.

Participated in state-of-the-art surgeries including cataract surgery, giving many of our four legged friends back the gift of vision. (It is amazing to watch these patients recover from surgery and see again!)

The normal but still fun veterinary technician duties such as monitoring patient vitals, medication administration, pain management, phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, general patient care, inventory management, etc.

Shared every day with a caring and fun group of people who are dedicated to their practice, clients, patients, doctors, and one another.

Due to the on-going advancements in veterinary ophthalmology, continuing education is essential for veterinary ophthalmic technicians and Animal Eye Care makes sure that our registered technicians are provided the latest and relevant CE, at no cost to them. We also pay for our technicians' licensing renewal fees.

    Please apply if:

    • You are a licensed / registered technician.

    • Your friends and co-workers gush about your awesomeness and attitude.

    • You have a desire to learn, to take on new responsibilities, and to be challenged.

    • You have a great personality, positive energy, care deeply about animals and people, and possess a thirst for innovation and trying new things.

    • You go to work every day to make a difference in the lives of clients and patients.

    • You believe in delivering "gold standard" client experiences.

    • You insist on only the best from those you work with and work to ensure the highest standards of veterinary medical care.
