Position: Staff occupational therapist | Full-time
Setting: Skilled nursing facility
Description:
The occupational therapist will be directly involved in patient evaluation, planning, direction and administration of occupational therapy modalities of treatment as prescribed by a licensed physician in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease, or physical disability. The occupational therapist will coordinate, delegate and supervise assigned supportive staff (OTA, COTA) and will ensure to accurately track patient’s notes and billing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Upon referral, evaluate patients by performing appropriate functional assessment as related to occupational therapy.
- Identifies appropriate goals and administers effective treatment plans.
- Efficiently implements and modifies treatment plans.
- Ability to observe and evaluate treatment effect, recommends change to physician as needed.
- Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, family training is included as appropriate.
- Completes all documentation required by policy, procedure, or regulation.
- Delegates and supervise patient treatment as appropriate to the OTA.
- Co-signs all OTA notes.
- Adheres to the AOTA's Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice for Occupational Therapy.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- Graduation from a school of Occupational Therapy approved by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association.
- Possession of current valid license as an occupational therapist by the California State Board of Medical Examiners or eligibility for such registration at the time of appointment.
Work Experience:
- 1 years acute care and/or skilled nursing facility experience (Preferred). New graduates welcome to apply.
