Human Resources Manager

The HR Manager will work onsite in our Beltsville, MD headquarters office as a member of the Human Resources team. The person in this role will be responsible for working directly with the Director of Human Resources & Talent Management. The objective of this position will be to oversee the daily operations of the HR department. This role is a great opportunity for someone interested in managing an HR department and the entirety of its functions as well as having direct access to senior level staff.

The Job:
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the HR department.
  • Plan, develop, and implement new HR policies as well as oversee existing policies in the areas of training, compensation, compliance, and benefits in order to attract and retain employees. 
  • Effectively communicate and interpret HR policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with hiring directors and other senior leaders to construct and implement a talent strategy and other personnel related decisions.
  • Stay up-to-date on local, state, and federal employment laws to remain compliant.
  • Create & submit annual personnel reporting such as EEO-1 reports, AAP reporting, benefits consensuses, etc.
  • Oversee the recording and maintenance of employee information as it pertains to personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data, performance reviews, etc.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to drive employee engagement and training strategies.
  • Prepare documentation and handle unemployment claims, filings, and appeals.
  • Perform or assist in HR related audits.
  • Help supervise other areas in the HR department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Desired Skills:
  • Experience with HRIS & ATS systems, preferably BambooHR 
  • Experience with G Suite for business
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Ability to drive projects to completion in challenging circumstances
  • Ability to facilitate discussion, identify, and implement alternatives or different approaches
  • Ability to collaborate with other departments
  • Strong interpersonal skills including written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated and ability to work under minimal direction
  • Flexibility

Required Education/Experience:
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Minimum 3-6 years of experience as an HR Manager or similar role completing higher level HR duties
  • Experience working as an HR Manager in a small to midsize company preferred
