Aledade is seeking a Director of Communications who thrives in a fast-paced and growing environment to drive the development and execution of our external communication strategies in support of the organization’s business objectives, position in the market, and brand. This is a newly created role so the ideal candidate will have the opportunity to play a significant role in developing and shaping the direction of Aledade’s communication strategy. This position will report directly to the CEO and work in close collaboration with senior leadership and the Marketing & Outreach team.
Role Description
- Lead the development and management of our communications strategy and brand visibility
- Partner closely with the Marketing team to manage the Aledade website, social media, and events and conferences
- Assess the effectiveness of the organizations’ communication channels and messages by measuring, benchmarking, monitoring, and improving the effectiveness of the communications initiative
- Write and guide communications for the CEO and other senior leaders and develop key messages and talking points to deliver at external conferences, speaking engagements, interviews, media opportunities, relevant industry events, etc.
- Lead media relations to include: leverage existing network and knowledge of the healthcare industry to position our thought leaders as experts; cultivate and leverage media connections to build Aledade’s brand; manage media inquiries, including from top tier outlets, serve as an on-the-record spokesperson when appropriate, and coordinate external media affairs in partnership with media affairs consulting firm
- Gather and process industry related information from a variety of sources including national experts, news stories, magazines and journal articles, special studies, governmental reports, industry studies, etc., and produce relevant reports of the findings, as well as potential communications opportunities for Aledade
- Assist in Aledade’s visibility in social media and across digital channels
- Attend various team meetings to keep a pulse on the inner workings of the organization and identify brand communications opportunities
- Identify company awards to submit for the organization and its leaders
- Able to work under pressing deadlines across multiple projects and portray calm in the face of difficult situations to stakeholders and peers
- Able to synthesize key messages and talking points into a compelling story and incorporate input from a diverse range of internal stakeholders into building Aledade’s marketing and brand.
Ideal Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Communications, English, Journalism, Public Relations, or a relevant field required
- A minimum of 8+ years of progressively senior communications experience with a focus on healthcare and/or public policy at a nonprofit, corporation, or communications agency environment
- Familiarity with industry trends, Medicare Advantage, CMS, ACA, and MSSP.
- Exceptional and proven written communication skills
- Proven track record of garnering media placements, as well as experience as an on-the-record spokesperson
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and functions within the organization
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and strategic thinking skills
- Strong initiative and ability to work well in ambiguous situations
- Requires a high level of discretion and professionalism
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and functions within the organization
- Calm under pressure, extremely organized, pro-active with strong interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated Crisis Communication/Issues Management experience
- This position can be hired at a more senior level based on experience and qualifications.

This is a full-time opportunity based in Bethesda, Maryland and will require some travel.
