Family Care Physician

Konza Prairie Community Health Center is seeking a board certified/board eligible family medicine physician who has a desire and passion for integrated care and wants to improve the overall health of the communities Konza Prairie Community Health Center (KPCHC) serves. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical:
  • Assess and treats patients in accordance with KPCHC policies and protocols.
  • Consults regularly with health care providers at KPCHC.
  • Maintain accurate written protocols for provider duties; regularly reviews and revises protocols as needed.
  • Active involvement in electronic medical record system development/improvement.
  • Maintains a high energy level which allows provider to comfortably perform multifaceted projects in conjunction with day to day activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Supervises assigned mid-level providers in the conduct of clinical care and delegates authority and responsibility when and where needed.
  • Provides medical evaluation, treatment and consultation services to patients of the clinic.
  • Provides medical orders for prescription refills, administration of medications, ancillary testing, and/or referrals.
  • Reviews ancillary test results and provides patient education as needed.
  • Completion of appropriate paperwork to comply with insurance and reimbursement guidelines.
  • Completion of all documentation and paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Works closely with the supervisor to provide leadership and medical direction for the clinic.
  • Attends all staff, clinical, or other special meetings as requested.
  • Assists with orientation and training of mid-level providers.
  • Participates in public relations and community outreach activities, as clinic shall from time to time reasonably request 
  • Provides assistance with OSHA, emergency preparedness, infection control and regulatory compliance. 
Administrative Duties:
  • Participate in the selection of physicians, nurse practitioners, and other clinical staff as needed.
  • Help in work force development so that we will continue to have a supply of quality Providers.
  • Be an example/mentor to providers relating to use of technology and best office practices. 
  • Provide clinical insight and judgment for operations of the business.
  • Provide clinical perspective to new technologies of care and advising on the means with which to incorporate that technology into practice. 
Quality Assurance:
  • Participate in Quality Assurance programs.
  • Review and approve patient education materials.
  • Participate in the peer review process for medical providers to ensure medical charts are accurate and complete according to established format and legal requirements. 
Liaison: 
  • Promote collaboration and cooperation in the medical community to allow our patients the access to care they need.
  • Representation of KPCHC via networking on a local, state and national level with other Community Health Centers, Health Care Organizations, and Institutions of higher learning where Medical students and residents are involved in training. 

Qualifications 
Experience:
  • Previous experience working with underserved populations highly desired.
  • Certification through the Drug Enforcement Agency and valid licensure in Kansas required.
  • CPR certified. 
Education: 
  • Completion of accredited Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree (DO) program required.
  • Board certification or board – eligible in area of specialty (internists/pediatricians, family practice, obstetrics/gynecology) required.
  • Family Practice specialty strongly preferred. 
Other Skills:
  • Must be able to secure credentialing through identified agencies (Medicare, Medicaid, etc.).
  • Must maintain admitting privileges at community hospitals utilized by KPCHC clients.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills required.
  • Basic computer and keyboarding skills required. 
Physical Demands:
Providers must be able to move around the facility between 1/3rd and 2/3rds of the day, as well as sit at a workstation or inpatient rooms. Using hands occurs over 2/3rds of the day, while reaching with arms occurs less than 1/3rd of the day. Communicating is also required over 2/3rds of the day, while climbing, stooping or crawling is minimal. Lifting up to 10 lbs. occurs about half the time, while up to and above 25 lbs. occurs only occasionally.
