An independent, physician-owned Multi-Specialty group is seeking a full time Physician Assistant to join the practice of Karen L Smith, MD, PA in Raeford, NC. The successful candidate needs to be experienced, energetic and enthusiastic. As a private practice, the successful candidate will be able to practice medicine in an environment where patient care is your primary focus. We offer competitive pay and benefits.
Duties:
- Facilitate new patient consultation and health history review
- Perform physical examinations and screenings of patients
- Order and administer tests including bloodwork
- Review and interpret test results
- Diagnoses health problems
- Detect changes in patient condition
- Administer medications
- Operate medical equipment
- Recommend further treatment options or future appointments if needed
- Provide referrals to other practitioners when necessary
- Provide after-care/ongoing care information and resources to patients and their families
- Ensure patient records/ documentation are kept up to date including test results,
immunizations, condition changes, etc.
- Consult with other healthcare professionals as needed
- Deliver quality, physician-level care while complying with company policies, safety
regulations, and productivity metrics
- Coordinate care plans and care plan oversight with chronic care manager for Chronic
Care Management (CCM) Program
- Serve as medical supervisor for Chronic Care Management (CCM) Program
- Active participation in all Quality Improvement Organizations (QIO)
Skills & Competency:
- Able to work well within a fast pace environment
- Able to provide appropriate care within a patient-centered medical home
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
- Patient, compassionate nature
- Ability to provide evidence-based care and commit to continuing medical education
- Must be familiar with the EHR medical charting systems (Athena Health)
- Proficiency in computer-based data management programs and information systems
preferred
- Proficiency in medical instruments and equipment
- Expected participation in all team activities

Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in physician assistant studies required
- Current state physician assistant license required
- 1+ years of clinical experience preferred
- Strong knowledge base of HIPAA and OSHA required
- Ability to operate as part of a team, alongside physicians, medical assistants, and nurses
- Prescriptive authorization required
- Disease prevention knowledge required
- Value-based practice knowledge preferred
- DEAX certification desired, but can be obtained
