SCOPE:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed health care provider who reports
to the Registered Nurse Manager and are clinically supervised by Medical
Providers under the direction of the Medical Director. Nurses may be
assigned to deliver health care and treat patients in one of these
settings: Intake and Assessment, Triage Clinic, UAC-Portal, Medication,
TAR, Discharge, Data Systems , or Sick Call. The RN is responsible for
providing health care to Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) within the
shelter in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations.
All services shall be provided in accordance with established standards,
principles and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty
organizations, and the high-quality standard for which CHSi is recognized.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduated from an accredited Nursing school
Unrestricted license in the state of residence
Fluent in English and Spanish (speak, read, and write)
Two years of clinical experience
One year of experience with pediatrics or adolescent medicine
Have and maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
Experience with electronic medical records (EMR )
Proficiency in the use of basic word processing programs and Data Management
Systems
Ability to explain treatments and conditions to children and adolescents in a manner
and language in which they understand
Excellent interpersonal and critical thinking skills
Clean criminal background check
Clean Child Abuse and Neglect (CA/N) or child protective services check
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
Willingness to work flexible schedule and fill in when needed
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receives / renders shift report to outgoing / incoming shift
Collaborates with inter/intra departmental personnel within the shelter (e.g. all
medical staff, mental health providers, case managers) to enhance plan of care
Assists with the managing of daily medical operations and prioritizing tasks.
Monitors vital signs and communicates the information to Medical Provider
Assists with stabilization of patient and coordination of children’s transfer for higher
level of acuity as needed.
Assists Medical Providers in planning, implementing and evaluating children by
assessment and interventions
Accurate documentation in medical record, medication administration record,
SharePoint, other databases, and SIR documentation according to training
guidelines
Utilizes CHSi computer to access e-mail, electronic documentation, and other job
specific requirements.
Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve
quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and
maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task
efforts, and new policy requirements.
Performs initial clinic sick visit assessment (may consult medical provider as needed)
Collaborates with Medical Provider to devise individualized care plans for children
Medication administration and immunization administration in accordance with
standard operating procedures
