Postdoctoral Psychology Resident
Do you love working with students? Are you looking for a workplace that values fun, creativity, flexibility, teamwork, and fresh ideas? Acacia Counseling & Wellness might be just the place for you! Established in 2014, Acacia Counseling & Wellness is the leading provider of off campus student mental health among universities. We have five offices in California: Goleta, Isla Vista, Davis, Westwood, and La Jolla - one here in Minneapolis, MN! Acacia's mission is to provide college students a safe, supportive space in which they receive quality, long term, and consistent mental health care that is highly accessible, affordable, and culturally sensitive. We strive to provide holistic wellness services including yoga, mindfulness/meditation, educational workshops, social events, and even a therapy dog! We work closely with academic institutions to provide optimal mental health referrals and support hundreds of students each academic year. This position is for those who are passionate about serving students, enjoy leadership roles, and love working in a team-oriented environment.
JOB SUMMARY The postdoctoral residency is designed for candidates with a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology who are interested in working with college students as an independent contractor with a “generalist” treatment focus. We require strong clinical skills, an interdisciplinary approach to treatment, and a passion for serving students. We are looking for compassionate, devoted clinicians who are multiculturally competent and sensitive.
A doctoral-level psychologist will be assigned as the primary supervisor and will meet one hour per week with the resident. There will also be an hour per week of group supervision provided by a psychologist with the resident and practicum students.
This is a flexible position that can be either full-time or part-time, depending on the client demand and the resident’s schedule (the caseload will likely build to three or four days per week). The resident will have the opportunity to set their appointment hours. The duration of the residency is either one year or through completion of hours for licensure, by mutual agreement. After the contracted period, assuming a goodness of fit, an employee position with benefits will become available.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The primary responsibilities of the postdoctoral resident include providing individual, couples, and group therapy and completing accompanying treatment documentation. Additionally, the postdoctoral resident will have the opportunity to attend consultation seminars and staff meetings, as well as do occasional outreach. The postdoctoral resident may be involved in supervision of practicum students and conduct workshops as needed.
