Clinical Psychologist or Therapist - College Student Counseling (Multicultural Specialist)

Established in 2014, Acacia Counseling & Wellness is the leading provider of off-campus, college student mental health. We currently have offices in Santa Barbara, Minneapolis, Davis, Westwood, and La Jolla. We are looking for our next Director at our new Acacia - Irvine office, serving the UCI community, among other local schools starting Fall 2019!


Acacia's mission is to provide college students a safe, supportive space in which they receive quality, long term and consistent mental health care that is highly accessible, affordable and culturally sensitive. We strive to provide holistic wellness services including yoga, mindfulness/meditation, educational workshops, social events, and even a therapy dog! We work closely with academic institutions to provide optimal mental health referrals and support hundreds of students each academic year. This position is for those who are passionate about serving students, enjoy leadership roles and love working in a team-oriented environment.

JOB SUMMARY

Acacia is in search of California licensed psychologists and therapists, who specialize working with multicultural communities. In particular, we are looking for experience with Asian, African-American, and Mexican American/Latino communities. We are looking for clinicians with strong clinical skills, an interdisciplinary approach to treatment, and a passion for serving students. We are looking for compassionate, devoted clinicians who are multiculturally competent and sensitive. All applicants must be willing to build up their caseload as a contractor for a short period of time.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities for therapists include providing individual, couples and group therapy, completing treatment documentation, attending consultation seminars and staff meetings, and perhaps occasional outreach.

As a new employee, you will begin as a contracted therapist for the first few months at a competitive rate. After, the contracted period, assuming a goodness of fit, an employee position with benefits will become available

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • California Professional Mental Health License
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to diversity and college student mental health
  • Experience working with multi-cultural communities 


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS (but not deal breakers!):

  • Credentialed with Anthem Blue Cross and/or Aetna Insurance Companies
  • Experience working with college students
  • General knowledge of EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems
  • Mandarin and/or Spanish Speakers
