West Coast Development Executive

Above Average is seeking a West Coast Development Executive to package and sell scripted and unscripted long form comedy projects. A dynamic, self-motivated team member, this candidate has authentic comedy knowledge and relationships as well as a competitive understanding of, and interest in, emerging platforms / traditional networks. The role reports directly to the Head of the Studio and will be focused on selling series both for Above Average and its sports comedy vertical, The Kicker. 

Responsibilities:
  • Solicit and review new material to identify sellable content that aligns with Above Average and The Kicker 
  • Maintain high level relationships with key external creative and development stakeholders at platforms and networks focused on buying comedy
  • Package and sell shows to emerging and traditional platforms
  • Guide show creators through pitch and production process
  • Help build process and best practices for the Development team

Skills & Qualifications:
  • Has substantial creative contacts and relationships
  • Knowledge of both TV industry dynamics and digital video offerings across Cable networks, Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat etc
  • Experience collaborating with topnotch producers, writers, actors and content creators
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Excellent project and time management skills
  • Great problem solver and decision maker
  • Self starter who is comfortable working in Los Angeles for a NYC based company
