The Market Development team accelerates time-to-market for the a16z portfolio. The group advises portfolio teams on their go-to-market strategy across sales, marketing, and business development. Additionally, the team creates commercial and strategic partnership opportunities for the portfolio with its network of Global 2000 executives. Through these efforts, the team strives to support each portfolio company in its pursuit of product-market-fit and commercialization at scale.

We are looking for someone with a strong passion to accelerate the impact of new enterprise technologies in the global landscape. As a Junior BD Partner, you will be responsible for (1) supporting a16z Enterprise portfolio companies with key go-to-market initiatives, (2) expanding the a16z Enterprise network of Global 2000 executives and business leaders, and (3) generating market development opportunities for portfolio companies.

What you will do:

  • Develop strategic partnerships between Global 2000 organizations and a16z portfolio companies
  • Accelerate go-to-market initiatives and key customer opportunities for portfolio companies from early product development through scaled distribution
  • Lead engagements with executives and business leaders on behalf of a16z
  • Create and maintain market landscape maps, using primary and secondary research, to identify new opportunities for portfolio companies

Who you are:

  • Functions: 4-6 years of corporate strategy, business development, and/or enterprise sales experience
  • Industries: fast-growing enterprise technology startup, large enterprise company, or top management consulting firm
  • Track record of sourcing deals and developing long-term business relationships with enterprise organizations at senior leadership levels
  • Polished communicator with experience with presenting to large audiences and executives
  • Collaborative teammate who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated and autodidactic who takes a structured and data-driven approach to problem-solving
  • High proficiency with Salesforce, Google Apps, and MS Office Suite (Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Ability and willingness to travel 20% of the time
